Mob Spawners would drop empty cages when destroyed, and surrounding an empty cage with the drop of the relevant mob would cause it to spawn that mob.

(diamond block = cage)

The idea seems cool. But I think it should be a "multiplayer admin" thing that you spawn.

That or have them still be craftable, but the "Crate" drops can be turned off by an admin.

Cause I like the idea, but it could be abused for griefing. Plus it makes Wheat farms superfluous.

It needs enough of a drawback (be it in harm or build cost) to validate the benefits.

Cause from what I can see, a creeper, skeleton, and pig spawner would basically have you set for life.

I would prefer being able to mine the mob spawners found in dungeons (which would limit how many you could get all by itself) but then use the method I listed in this thread to actually activate what the mob spawner produces.
