the guy "hanged" himself because his horse idea wasnt liked by anyone, then his "room mate" alex started to post crap up on the thread saying he is dead now
and then he got banned xD
hope I dont get banned for liking such a funny thread, but twas too funny.
Yeah, that person was either a troll or an attention freak. Ugh. Glad people like that get banned.
If there's no night, does that mean the Aether is a dwarf white star and light comes from the bottom?
That would be neat, falling into white plasma and disintegrating into star-light.

Seeing how the plan is to drop you into the Overworld when you fall, No, the aether is not above a white dwarf star.
Are you calling it cloudy clay to try to convince me to go back to implementing it as a clay?
That's actually a pretty cool idea though, it will work even better for cold cloud, since you wouldn't even need to craft it. Just use it straight as is, along with a darkwood torch in order to keep it from "melting" when you wanted it to stay solid, and the redstone could be set up to instantly "melt" cold cloud while active.

I'm calling it cloudy clay because I like that name
Anyway your idea can still work with cloudy clay because the darkwood would make it frozen and redstone would melt it

That's nice, but you're just going to confuse people. It has no properties in common with clay anymore. It functions closer to ice, with the only method for gathering it is to break it into it's "liquid" form and gather it in a bucket.
A suggestion for a plant. I have no idea what it would look like or what it should be named, but it would do this:
The plant (temporarily known as Plants) would produce a thick fog. The fog would be stronger as you get closer to the Plant producing it. The fog a Plant produces is actually what it exhales, while it inhales oxygen, a lot of it. This would cause a massive drop in oxygen as you get close to a Plant, thus having the oxygen meter like when underwater, with the rate it drops growing as you get closer. Destroying a Plant would cause the fog the slowly disperse and would drop the Plant (like a flower). The fog would not only limit your view, but that of mobs as well. The Plant would be useful for things like traps with it's oxygen sucking ability. Things like Zephyr and Songstone (anything that produces wind) would be able to blow around the fog.

The BogFog plant?
Anywho, this sounds like fun! It could make for some really neat traps...

I like this idea, but i'm not too sure if it fits into Aether... I mean, it's cool, and could be for another biome (Maybe a bog biome?) But it doesn't feel like it belongs in a frosted, elevated dangerzone. (Yes, Aether is sounding more dangerous than I initially anticipated) And on top of that, it adds to the danger level at least five-fold by clouding your vision while you're at such a high area, risking falling off if misjudging terrain from a distance. But I like how it consumes air at an astounding rate. Brings another danger into consideration.

That was the point. However, keep in mind they wouldn't be common.
bonsai trees dont really, fit the Aether spirit, if you know what i mean. i sort of like the opposite of darkwood, but "lightwood", tree trunks provide light, sort of like lightstone. if you have ideas to better this, please feel free to add on to this

Aether already has a chance of trees becoming crystal trees when they grow from saplings.

This is definitely something that would fit better in the Nether than in the Aether. Rather than being a plant though, I think it might be interesting if it was simply a rolling fog that moved through the Nether, that worked similar to clouds, but occurred at multiple different levels (not just one single elevation) and carried an oxygen deprevation effect when the player's upper body is in it.
I love this idea.
Full support!
Maybe, this is for both Aether and Nether, maybe there could be a center, so to speak, and at the center, there was a ball. In the Nether it would be black, or a black/red changing color, and had black or red beams going up, down, left, right, side and side. And it is the heart of then the Nether. (A white/blue ball in the Aether, with white or blue lights shooting out the saem as the Nethers) You can mine it with a diamond pick, takes twice as long as and when it is mined, it can be take down to earth and be placed. It makes a radius twenty blocks out oof thast area. So, if it was the Aethers, that part of the world would grow things from there, but it also spawns the Aethers monsters there and like, not a little, but a lot. It gives the chance for the world to have new mobs, and you have some area of that place. That block is timed though, only lasts a minecraft day. Then that peice vanishes literally, and leaves a hole in the ground.
This is an amazing idea and I call tell you put a lot of work into the original post. The design is perfect as well are most of the ideas, I can already imagine what it would look like and it's amazing. The only thing that I don't like is the name, "Aether" is too much of a Nether spin-off, I feel like this should be it's own independent thing.
