Did you lose your imagination somehow? This whole game is about creating fantastical things.
this isn't an issue of creativity, he's just pointing out that just like we're trying to get the mobs and such to fit in with minecraft's style, Sabata is looking at whether the names fit minecraft's naming conventions thus far. It doesn't really, but it's only a name, so I'm not really bothered by it as long as the name makes some sort of sense and isn't impossible to pronounce. (or at least no worse that "Aether" is by itself)

I'm glad atleast you understand Grey.
I don't mind you not changing them, so long as you know the concern.
And yeah, most are longer, but like a lot of things once they reach a stable name, take Blue Slime, it'd probably be shortened to BSlime, maybe Blime, and eventually BS. But with most of those the transition to the original name of Blue Slime is relatively simple or an easy relation.
As to the Zelda reference, for a game that starts with "Deku Baba", "Keese", "Stalfos", and "Skultula" I'm pretty sure "Gohma" isn't too out there.
In Minecraft, unless it's a reproduction of said game's character, it would be too out of the norm.
Anyways, Grey got the point, I'll leave it at that.
Here's how I'm visualizing the wings for pigs. Note: these are a texture to be applied to a thin 3d block, thee are not meant to be a flat 2d plane.
This'd look over 9000 times better if the wings were compromised of several blocks. To draw out a wing shape, even if just a bit. Serriously, blocky is fine, but what you're building is a jumbo jet PIG707. Also it's either that I'm reading the folded picture wrong, or it's not as much folded as it is broken of, moved, and glued somewhere it doesn't belong.
hey, don't get too much work out. I still need to revise the textures to fit with a quick model mockup that Firehazurd whipped up (hopefully he wont mind if I show it here:

That's almost exactly what I was thinking of for the extended wing (I'll need to alter the textures to work for having the wingtip block on the lower side though) but I notice you have the folded wing different that what I did, and I don't think that works well. The reason for this is that most wings fold into a Z shape "upper arm" points back, "forearm" points forward, "hand" points backward. Your version only gives a V shape.
If you go back to my diagram, you'll notice that I actually keep the wingtip and the main wing pointed in the same direction. What this does is make the wingtip into the "hand" and the main wing into the "upper arm" and the "forearm" of the wing is merely IMPLIED to exist without actually needing to show it. Let me know if that wasn't explained well, I can whip together a quick visual diagram to show what I mean.
@futil, looks good
mainly work on the shading of the robe and face (with his beard and all)
maybe have the tree at the front, like a club? instead of dragging it behind him :ohmy.gif:
and maybe you could even attempt to mine the tree xD it should drop wood and saplings
@grey, thats a pretty good model of wing movement, but does this mean we are going to get more mobs with joints in them, I would rather have a zombie that walks with knee and elbow bones then the current :/
@sabata, original mobs get original names, settled, however mobs that really resemble something that has been mentioned in folklore or mythology should be called that name, the scootwing is original so no, the swet has original abilities but it resembles the current slime which makes more sense then swet
It's the only reasonable way you can get something that looks "bird wing" shaped as opposed to "plane wing" shaped while still using rectangles. The legs of the Phyg would still be single rectangles and not have knees.
Why not have the ability to find Books, ruins of Libraries and artifacts in the Aether.
Some Good ideas would be "The Starry Messanger" http://www.historyguide.org/earlymod/starry.html which is a report about the stars by Galileo, a Telescope, a sundial, an astrolabe, a sextant, ancient greek/roman themed pottery, paintings and ruins, gears, Placeable clocks, Giant Telescopes, etc. I think of the Aether as a place with a Starry, Heavenly, Greek and Roman feel.
Yeah, to be completely honest, unless I spent hours upon hours looking at the names of the mobs on this forum, I'd probably just call them basic names. Usually a "mr." prefix is what I use. Mr. Zombie, Mr. Whale, Mr. Flying Pig, Mr. Cloud Guy, etc.
Let's put it this way: you are starting a brand new blind let's play of minecraft. You are barely gonna know what things are, and enemy names will be what they look like. I doubt anyone is gonna be saying "all right, it's time to go take down some zephyrs with our trusty bow!"
Just letting you guys know what I think of the names.
Added more drops and craftable items to mah Yeti thread. Speaking of which, should we start thinking about loot and craftable items from Aether mobs? It's seems to be one of the few missing things here.
Phygs are flying pigs, and simply look like regular pigs with a pair of wings. They spawn in herds, drop feathers when hit, drop meat when killed, and can even be saddled to be ridden.
Now this is for beta! I apologize for coming out of nowhere, and if anyone else has already said this.
Has anyone sent this to Notch yet? This is the flying transport he's probably going to implement in the game on Monday, or something.
Hence why they're called S-wet-s, why they can be frozen, why they only spawn near water, why they're okay sitting in it while you drown, and why they drop snowballs instead of slime.

also are you going to support the making of the aether mod that (forgot name) is making
cause Notch actually pays attention to mods and how they appear in game :biggrin.gif:

Heaven is not a place, or a time, it is perfection.
So, when YOU start touching perfection, you will start to emerge in heaven.

It was the only possible way to create Blue Dust so I just put it in.
Aerwhale = Aerwhale bladder (for airships)
Zephyr = Songstone
Swets = Snowballs
Phygs = Feathers (when hit) Meat (when Killed)
Sheepuffs = Cloth(common when hit) and/or String (rare when hit) Leather? (when killed?)
Sentries = Diamond (Rare) Crystal (Common)
