Maybe, I was thinking about how, to get to the Aether, you need to go to the nether, first, and then you can go to the aether. Well could there be some kind objective added now? I was thinking that what if in every aether( since it is randomly generated in different game files) randomly generated One temple. This temple would have difficult to beat opponents, such as the sentinels, some kind of moving gaurdians (someone suggested yeti? not sure if i like yeti though) and two or one big foes, kinda like a boss, or the king mob of the aether. After you defeat every mob inside the temple a door would open in the back, and inside there is a room filled with treasure chests. Im thinking like 4 regular hest found in dungeons, and 1 special treasure chest with a new item only found in the treasure chest in the aether making it the rarest and most valuable item. What the item is could be debateable obviously. (special heavenly sword?. armour? airplane? magical orb? wings to let you fly? camoflauge armor that makes you invisible to enemy mobs? so many possiblities) Or perhaps have three temples, and after you beat each one, you find a key, and on the normal overworld (earth) there is a final building that requires the three keys to open with the boss inside? I know this idea is kinda radical, but this would add some kind of objective, and after you beat the final room you can continue to play minecraft normally so it would be more of a side quest that an atually game main mission. I personally prefer the 3 temples in the sky to make it more challenging, and then a boss in the overworld.
Connour's Goliath mob hasn't died just yet. its gonna be the guardian mob, not the yeti >_> I mean the Goliath mob holds a freakin tree as a weapon, thats just badass

I have a few problems with this here Goliath mob...
[*:2uyca1ci]Goliath was an EVIL giant in the Christian Bible.
[*:2uyca1ci]The only trees in the Aether are some darkwood on the bottom of islands.
[*:2uyca1ci]Aether mobs can't be directly causing damage to the player.
[*:2uyca1ci]I'm almost certain that the story of Goliath took place in a desert environment.
So you're telling me that you want an evil giant with a tree-weapon to protect the Aether? While mind-blowingly awesome, this doesn't belong in the Aether. :sad.gif:

true it probably doesnt belong in the Aether, probably more of a forest biome creature, but the yeti is more thundra biome. In the aether I think the mobs should incorporate, heavenly aspects, like like, wind, water, pureness, etc. niether the yeti or goliath fit. I think maybe some enchanted temple statue gaurds, like they are normal statues but when you walk in, they come to life and attack you. the statue itself can be anything, a soilder, a dragon, the form doesnt really matter, a lion, eagle, phoenox, minotaur, etc. WAIT MAYBE mythological creatures in the aether? cyclopes, minotaurs, hydra, etc.
I know the Yeti doesn't seem to fit, but while the mob is based on cryptozoological descriptions, the Yeti is also a creature of Himalayan legends and religion. There is a belief that the Yetis are the guardians of the Himalayas, preventing humans from reaching the highest peaks. While thought of putting them in the Taiga biome, the mountains aren't big enough to make it feel good.
Hey, why isn't Firehazurd's Sky Moa on the mob list on page 1?
Because I don't really like it yet. I like the regular moa, but the "sky" moa is nothing more than a retexture, and we already have Aerwhales and Phygs as potential mounts.

Objectives?
No.

This prt is wrong. I have NEVER said that trees don't grow in the Aether, and have even specifically mentioned having trees grow BIGGER in the Aether (at least the ones that are come pregenerated) and also that one of the methods for obtaining crystal, would be through a tree growing from a sapling into a Tree during Daeylight.
How about a Golem as a boss-like creature?
You could have it be made of quicksoil and be incredibly fast,
You could make it out of floatsand and be able to fly,
You could even have it conceal itself being made of Aetherock!

I once saw a chicken push a creeper off of a cliff. I never looked at chickens the same way ever again. That is of course until I needed feathers.
This Is not an idea for an OBJECTIVE rather, a side mission, minecraft will never have a main goal, because it is minecraft. however Maybe, I was thinking about how, to get to the Aether, you need to go to the nether, first, and then you can go to the aether. um minecraft is geting a main goal 12-20-10 when it go`s beta
okay whatever, the point is im trying to emphasis the idea of the temple, with a boss concept, IF minecraft ever gets an objective I won't care either way. Btw what will the objective in beta be? im curious.
quote Notch`s blog Minecraft Beta: December 20, 2010
The next epoch is upon us! The skies are trembling, pigs are growing wings, and the nether is turning awfully cold, as Minecraft slowly crawls out of Alpha..
Minecraft will reach Beta status on December 20th, 2010.
With Beta comes a larger focus on polish and content, and we’ll start early on with adding proper modding support with a stable API, and we’d love all input we can get on this from the modders out there. We’ll also add some kind of non-intrusive narrative to the game to help drive the game experience early on, and to provide some kind of late game goal. There will be a bigger focus on testing and stability as well, with more time between updates.
When the game enters beta, the price will rise to 14.95 Euro.
We will also change the license to remove the line that promises all future versions of the game for free. Please note that this change only affects people who buy the game after December 20, so if you got the game for during alpha, you will still get all future updates for free, despite this change. A promise is a promise.
Buying the game during beta will include all updates up until release, of course, and bug patches will be free.
Soon, you will be able to buy gift codes for Minecraft, perfectly timed for the holidays! Even better, if you buy those before December 20, accounts created from these codes will count as alpha accounts, and will receive all future updates for free.
And the next game update (with server-side inventory) is coming next week, before Beta
Merry holidays happy! :biggrin.gif: unquote

I think that sheepuff wool could be used in some airboat designs (Because it lets them float, right?).

No it isnt. Notch says on his blog that he's thinking of adding an objective when the game is out of beta. Possibly.
