Calm down, Magicalcake. The 8:1 ratio has been discussed and shelved for the moment. There will likely be SOME sort of "X Aether blocks = 1 Overworld block" but a specific number hasn't been decided on.

Ok and also I think when given an electric charge Cloudy Clay would vanish for a few seconds

so you dont travel 16 blocks and automaticly have 2 portals next to eachother, i say it should be about 4 or 5 = 1 overworld

I can destroy a mountain with a feather. What's so wrong about that?
assuming that cloud clay is a block which evaporates when touched?
anyway, if that is the case then no, make it like the platforms which just disappear after you walk on them, one way bridges in a sense, they would be cool o3o
i dont actually remember when this thread was talking about cloud clay and since its not on the OP it must be undeveloped

Actualy it was renamed to Cold Clouds but I HATE that name
Cold Cloud is called that because it "melts" into regular cloud block (though a non-moving variant of it which i will refer to as "fog") when it is touched by a mob, and then "freezes" back into cold cloud after sitting a while (the same way water freezes back into ice, or at least used to) I forgot to specify, but this action only happens in the colder atmosphere of the Aether. In the Overworld, pouring fog out of a bucket will just leave it as "fog" and it wont "freeze" back into cold cloud unless you use Darkwood. I'm also considering having lightstone and crystal light beams able to be another method through which cold cloud can be "melted"
I thought the ghast's appendages were still 3d model? I'm still not totally satisfied with these wings, but they're definitely better than the last set. I'm probably just going to need to draw something up to show how I think the wings should be handled.
In the meantime, any chance that we could get a mockup of the inflated sheepuff? Also maybe make the "skintone" of the sheepuff a little less yellow? As it stands it looks a little jaundiced. It makes me wonder if sheepuffs got their name from puffing cigarettes.
Just my opinion... I love the Aether. I do have a couple suggestions.
The zephyr cloud things don't look very good and mimic way too much the ghasts in the fact that they are floating white cloud type things. I would get rid of that but take the name zephyr and give it to the swets. The other thing that seems a bit off to me is those pictures of what the different blocks will look like. Ones blue, the other is goldish, then u said there will be water and ice. The color scheme seems a bit weird. Just thinking about it though. It would be cool to have a preveiw picture of one of these floating islands :smile.gif:
Damn, I could've sworn... But anyway, look at Firehazurds models, some of them sport similar adornments and no one has disputed those yet. It's a good solution I believe.
It's a solution when you're talking about minor features like hair or spikes that don't move. Those have a precedent set by the cactus block, but not when you're talking about entire limbs of a mob that should be able to move.
Sorry, but I've got to say no dice on this, no matter how nice it might look.

Tum tum dum doooom:
Now this looks pretty good, but I'm still going to push for more from you.
1) can you PLEASE get rid of that black line on it's texture? Or at least SEVERELY lighten it? I'd rather see a pure white line than the black that it looks like now.
2) Not as big of a deal, but like I said before, any chance of getting its "skin tone" away from a yellow and maybe closer to a white or pink shade? The more I look at it, the more it looks like it's got jaundice.
3) You're in the right direction, but kick it up a notch! Take that main body segment and expand it forward and up, and out to the sides to maintain scale. You shouldn't even be able to see that the sheep has a head segment, only its face, and the front legs should be just as covered up as the back leg segments. I notice that you have protrusions on each face of the body cube to give it a rounder appearance, keep those, but remove the front one so that you can entirely surround the sheepuff's head and front legs within the main body segment.
However, I will say that the leg positioning is perfect. That is exactly what I was envisioning.

I like them, though I've been hoping to see them as a lighter color so they can blend in with clouds better. Firehazurd has stated that he's planning on redesigning them anyway.

So? They're supposed to be mimicking clouds. I can't help it that ghasts float around like clouds.
I would get rid of that but take the name zephyr and give it to the swets.
No. If you looked up the term "Zephyr" you'd see for yourself that it has jack diddly to do with Swets. Slimes = s"lime"s, Swets = s"wet"s.
Waaaaiiiit a second. You're not okay with Zephyrs seeming "kinda" like Ghasts, but you ARE okay with Swets, that are just a reskin of a Slime? Move the same way but attack slightly different? Zephyrs at least would at least move different in order to attack, since they'd get close to you when they actually blew at you, probably close enough to use a sword on.
The other thing that seems a bit off to me is those pictures of what the different blocks will look like. Ones blue, the other is goldish, then u said there will be water and ice. The color scheme seems a bit weird.
Actully the color scheme has been pretty consistent with a White/Gray/Blue/Gold theme. Plus those don't have to be final, I just don't want people putting swirls on every "aether" block like what is getting done with the Aether Mobs.
Just thinking about it though. It would be cool to have a preveiw picture of one of these floating islands :smile.gif:
We're working on it. One guy did a concept image, but it was purely inspired by the name and general concept instead of any description. He had too much "cloud" to the island, too many small trees, and a couple of other minor issues. I'm working on drawing up a diagram to show how blocks should generate.
Very interesting, has talked about this at all, or are we just hoping the Aether will make it in at some point?
Actually, in one of his latest Development blogs (Two Days Ago, actually...) Notch has implied that the Aether will be in the game by Beta (maybe)

The skies are trembling, pigs are growing wings, and the nether is turning awfully cold, as Minecraft slowly crawls out of Alpha..
Although he states Nether in there, it still is a similar dimension TO the Nether, so it might be separate =D I dunno about y'all, but I'm taking that phrase as "Wait for a week. Aether is comin'!"
im not sure but i beg to differ about two of the examples they are actually clever sayings such as when pigs fly or when hell has frozen over but i have not rebuttle against the skys are tremblin thing so who knows we might get lucky :smile.gif:
anyway, can we get back on topic please? no more biblical ham.
Would there be any special plants that grow in the aether? perhaps a plant that grows on ceilings and hangs down . These would have to grow on the bottoms of the floating islands.

Anywho, I like the new wings, my only problem with them is that they look kinda small... other than that they look awesome. :biggrin.gif:
Yes, because dragons are are awesome. :biggrin.gif:
You are just flying up to the aether one day, and all of the sudden:
"WHAT THE DUECE!? is that a pig with bat wings!?"
Rofl. that would be hilarious.
