I like how the Aether makes two different armors and the new Nether makes two new tool types. Although a InvEditing greifer could use Aether armor and Nether Raze tools to become an unstoppable greifer. Unless s/he gets banned. :wink.gif:
Maybe Aether and Nether equipment used together weaken each other?
Howso? The Aether Armors (Hover Armor and Camo Armor) actually aren't terribly strong on a defensive level, they just offer different bonuses. The Nether Tools are only specifically more powerful in the Nether, and are generally only about even when used in the Overworld. Raze are only about equal to iron with a chance of fire, and even then, snowballs can put out fire, so people have a basic defense against being on fire.
Fair enough. Just to be sure, I know about the floating glass armor; what was the other decided one?

hmmm... well what if it turns into night while your at the aether? Me:Lalalallalala *turns into night* Me: Oh its turning into night! well i gotta go find the porta- AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *dead*
Someone could be invisible using aether rock armor and start catching people on fire with raze swords, that's how.
Not really, The flame isn't something that happens every time you hit something (only 25% max), all armors don't cover your arms, so even if it did make you invisible to other players that way it wouldn't work 100%, it would still require sneaking to get your best camouflage rating that it can get, and it only works on mobs and players that have NOT already spotted you and that you have not drawn aggro on by attacking them.

I thought Aetherrock armor got downvoted...
When was there ever a vote? I certainly never voted on that, but it doesn't really matter, because the presence of the New Nether's Tool Tiers basically changes the entire perspective. Add 3 new Tool Tiers and maybe a single Armor to the New Nether, and then to contrast with that you get 3 sets of armor in the Aether and maybe 1 tool tier.
So going off of that idea, we have room for one more set of Aether Armor, and then maybe a set of Nether Armor and an Aether Toolset.

Ok... I was thinking of something that wouldn't burn and/or wouldn't get destroyed in lava, but that might be best left to Asbestoskin from the Nether. That way it could be weaker for balance purposes. For an Aether toolset, I'd suggest something that can mine/damage everything that would normally require gold, as well as other materials, but has a higher durability, maybe that of Iron. Still not sure what it would be (trying to think of "legendary/magical" materials, but all I can think of so far is Orichalcum, but that name sounds weird, assuming you can even pronounce it right), but it could probably be made into both armor and tools.
For the tool tier, how about Galestone/Flowvein? They do the same damage as normal stone tools, but have some extra qualities (obviously):
- The sword only does stone tier damage, but repels the enemy mob into the air and throws it about 10 blocks away, possibly incurring fall damage.
- The axe has a 75% chance of obtaining crystal from crystal blocks.
- The shovel digs flowsand extremely fast, meaning that, 'though the flowsand still floats away, the player can finish it off before it gets out of range.
- The pickaxe... I don't know. Something to do with cold cloud?
Anyway, take which bits you like.
Yes, this is good.
The pickaxe could stop floatsand in mid air whe nyou hit it.

This makes sense; Nether tools are more suited for use in the Nether, Aether tools are more suited for use in the Aether.

Theoretically, Crystal could be used for a Toolset that is stronger depending on the light level that the player is in (possibly as strong as diamond in full daylight, stronger in Aether Daylight, but barely even gold level when in full darkness)
The Asbestoskin seems like the obvious choice for a nether armor, but I feel like it's better to leave players reliant on items, like the reinforcing minecarts to create a netheraft, and maybe creating a Parasol to protect from acid rain (Para + sol = "protect from" + "sun" so call it a Parasin?)
I actually liked the Bone Armor mockup image that Nether Updates still hasn't gotten around to doing anything with, and it could easily be done by using the Demon Bones. Of course, for that to be balanced, either the Bone armor would have to actually be fairly weak, or Skeletons would need to drop bones ONLY if killed directly by the player and not when damaged by burning, sunlight or otherwise. (Maybe allow them to drop bones rarely when using cactus or drowning traps)
Perhaps the Bone Armor could work on a similar system to shields, where it blocks all damage to the player until it breaks outright, but has a low durability.

The only one of these that makes any sense is the extra features you gave to the sword where it provides heavier knockback.

Fair enough. I still think it could at least not lose durability to fire damage, while you could still recieve damage, albeit reduced, from it.

Ooh, cool! You could dedicate it to daytime building projects, and save your other tools for underground, thus saving materials!
I don't know if this has been suggested in the last 100+ pages, given I lost my reading progress due to a browser crash, but how about making the geometry in The Aether behave like the reverse of The Nether with respect to the main world? Two portals placed 1km apart in The Nether end up 8km apart in the main world. For The Aether behaving the opposite of The Nether, two portals 8km apart in The Aether would end up 1km apart in the main world.

As stated earlier, though the Aether is the anti-nether, it does not have the exact opposite things as the nether, just the base functions.
How about ether lets you keep it in a bucket infinetly, so you can put out as much fire as you want. However, you can only carry it in a gold bucket.
The thing about Ether is that it spreads out horizontally over a set range, disregarding gravity, once a source block is placed, so it's really inefficient for putting out fires anyway. It is, however, attracted to more of itself, so you could form floating water tunnels, bridges, and more by strategic placement of Ether blocks, and infinite source blocks coming from a single bucket might make this too easy. Besides, its implied lack of density might make it unable to douse flames, anyway...
