Please tell me you're not serious. That would be a truly incredibly bad Idea; overpowered and potentially gamebreaking. While I like Grey's egg concept, the 'blast straight up and kills all enemies' bit definitely a no-no.
I mean, if you really want an incredibly powerful payback, make it so that the pressure of the phoenix reigniting compresses all stone blocks in a 5 block radius into gravel and all coal ore blocks into diamonds.
Something like that would be awesome, but just killing all enemies makes no sense.
Keep in mind. I'm assuming only 1 pheonix or pheonix egg ever exists at the same time, all items are burned and no collectible, and the player still takes damage.
I'm not going to change the new topic to pheonix. New topics are something that are already viable ideas that just need fleshed out or generally need more attention. I don't believe this really has any place in the Aether at all.
The aether sounds pretty good but maybe put a couple other things like making cloud act like bedrock so that the worlds smartest minecraft players don't fall off the aether in the first five seconds because they didn't watch where they were stepping.
There should also be ruins of buildings with booby traps so that players feel like they're trespassing on the homes of ancient minecraft gods.
There's already ruins of buildings with sentries. And if you can't see that there's nothing in front of you, don't step there. And I think you can walk on some kinds of clouds.

How would clouds acting like bedrock do anything to address that situation?

No. Boobytrapped dungeons work better in the nether, where you can have bedrock-lined dungeons along the ceiling and floor of the nether, so you can't just mine around the traps.
Yeah, but imagine having to keep smacking the ground on the overworld or nether whenever you went ANYWHERE. It'd really be a hindrance to exploring, I think. And would get real old real fast.
The Aether has about 1/25th the amount of ground the Aether has, so it's not as big of a deal.
Yeah, but exactly how much time are you going to spend walking around on the air compared to the islands? For instance, even in water-heavy worlds, you still build off of the ground, typically. Even if it's an underwater dome. Sure, you may make a floating house or something, but it'd not help you whenever you went out exploring. It would reduce most travel on the islands themselves to a crawl, while people checked every single block before walking over it or just really annoyed people who didn't bother by giving them absolutely no warning when dropping them down a hole they now have to mine out of.

Things I hope get put into Minecraft: Piston (since it can act as a Sluice Gate), Birds, Aether, colorful fish (like the birds), deeper ocean biomes.
Instead of a 2d map it should just be cloud. And if you fall into it, you die. I think that way it would be more like a separate world. Otherwise it kinda gives the idea that you could just climb up from the main world on a 1x1 dirt block. Great idea though!
Great Idea although I don't like that an enemy spawns in water! I think they should only go in water if they have you already inside them and if u break free while in water they cannot trap you till you are on land.
I do like how gold tools now have a use and support all other parts of this post other then the above mentioned!
The Aether needs some sort of transportation. What if one of the mobs dropped some sort of material that could be used in a mini airship. It would create a helium affect when burned. The airship would break when you exit or hit something. It runs on the materials and only last around 2 minutes as it has a limited capacity for fuel.

If they implement the Aether, I think you should make it pretty ahrdto reach, I think the glowstone blocks are a good idea, but hoe about this: in the bottom 2 blocks isntead of glowstone you need to ahve 2 lapizlazulli blocks.
It might just be me, but isn't glowstone harder to get than lapis lazuli? To get glowstone you need diamonds and lava, to get lapis lazuli all you need is luck. And one other thing... Grammar Nazi disapproves.
Regarding the shape of the Glowstone portal, when I originally thought of realm that would counter the Nether, I thought the portal should be similar to this shape as shown in the picture. Not the same 2 x 3 shape portal you walk into. Rather, a portal you stand in and it takes you up into the Aether.
Not currently, but the collaboration seems to have started incorporating more and more of this thread's stuff into it.
And I think only two have...
The Ether, which this thread was based off, and the Aether, the thread you're in.
@Sniggy
Usually he has some pretty neat ideas, but sometimes they do tend to get a liiittle too strong.
Maybe instead of outright killing everything, it should just ignite everything in a certain radius.

I honestly hope that Notch adds this ASAP
