i think the gate should be made of gold blocks like so ( =gold block) [] [] [] []
but other then that its ok
That would be WAY too restrictive to make. It is fine being glowstone.
well that makes it so ya gots ta go to hells first (yes i know it was intentional) this way you can do thins in any order you want and it gives gold a new use

The whole point of it being glowstone is that you need to go to the Nether first. Is there something you aren't getting?

This is minecraft, a game put on the earth so we can make pickaxes and mine holes through logic itself.
Rather than sticky sand replacing soul sand, it should just make soul sand stickier. Because soul sand sound coolerf rot he nether. Ya know?
That had been MY general idea. I didn't see any reason that adding "stickyness" should require a name change. I only ever used "stick" soul sand to describe it so that people could have a modifier to identify whether they were talking about the new or old versions of the block.
What if the aether spawned free floating bubbles of water that hung in the air between islands? Some would be small, just consisting a few blocks, others could be veritable mid-air oceans.
Some would be wrapped around islands, or have chunks of rock or dirt suspended in them. Others could be almost completely pure.
You'd be able to swim in them, or ride boats on top. You'd have to be careful not to fall out the bottom though if you go for a swim.

i like that concept, but how would he bubble be managed? just have it so it has no flow at all?
Dunno about water "bubbles" but surrounding the outside of islands with 1 or 2 rows of water blocks would be a nice aesthetic. Though it, nearly, completely removes the threat of Quicksoil.
Could have some sort of special dirt or stone that suspends gravity/flow for water around it. I'm a little hesitant to just throw out "Moar Stones!" though.
I was looking more at how the liquid would behave than how the procedure would be accomplished. Would the liquid flow at all, but never more than a block way from the source block and in all directions? Personally I'd rather see it as a property specific to the liquid.

Love it, except for the fact that if you let liquids or objects affected by gravity hit the base of the Aether it might require a lot fo code for them to fall to the overworld

Creepers are the worst thing on a slow computer. Obsidian is your best friend.

Good thing we specifically proposed that they either stop or break when they hit the bottom of the aether than, and don't have to worry about them falling into the overworld at all.

I hope it doesn't, that was a cool idea and made the Æther more dangerous/exciting. Maybe just ~1 block runoff from islands, even tiny (2x2x2-5x5x5) sized islands, would be easier.

Yeah, just place bundles of water blocks with no flow.

Guh, please stop calling it that way. I know it looks like a cool thing, but no one else is going to keep copying and pasting just for that. Aether works perfectly fine for it's name, better even, since it retains closer parallel letters to Nether that way.
And damn. The thread for the Aether mod just hit 98 pages. I had kinda been hoping that this thread could hit 100 pages before they passed it. Oh well, this is still likely to be the first suggestion to reach 100 pages, whereas plenty of other threads on that modding section have already hit 106 pages.
Don't go spamming this thread in order to reach 100 pages. It wont mean anything if it's forced.
It depends. I've shown Kingdogz the New Nether and he seemed to like its direction, though he didn't really mention what he thought of it compared to the Nether update suggestion.

Seeing as how the Nether has a huge bedrock ceiling above it, I think not.
