Read through a description of every single block that is specific to the Aether, and you'll have your answer. Perfectly camouflaged pitfalls and secret entrances, wind tunnels that can automatically transport your items into chests anywhere in the world, blocks that allow you to run faster or make minecarts travel faster, blocks that can be set to move when activated, blocking water flows or opening gates, blocks that can extend natural light for destroying skeletons and zombies and turn spiders passive, etc, etc, etc.

UNREALISTIC!!!!
Everywhere needs to have a sensible light source. I don't care what time of day it is, if the light can't move through the blocks, it will be dark on the other side. If there is no light source, then there is no light. This is true for Minecraft.
Not in the Nether, and therefor no need for things to work that way in the Aether either.
Heck, the OVERWORLD isn't even realistic (hi trees that float in the air after you knock the trunk out from under it) I don't see any reason that a separate DIMENSION needs to follow the same rules.
Thinking about the whole dropping through the bottom of the Aether problem. How about updrafts placed in pillars around the aether. You can either swim in the updrafts or just sit your glider in and go up. Make the floor out of updraft so that it is impossible to fall through. Of course, updrafts shouldn't be mined.

But that would take out the danger.

This is minecraft, a game put on the earth so we can make pickaxes and mine holes through logic itself.

Agreed. The Aether should have the possibilty of falling to your Death, or at least into Middle Earth.
well if there is a hell there must be a heaven :tongue.gif:
... I have explained this soo many times... The Nether is not Hell, The Aether is not Heaven. They are not Opposites. I don't want to explain this again.

Then don't. As overseer of this thread, I am going to lay it out like so;
Seeing as how it is specifically billed as "Anti-Nether" for all intents and purposes, the Aether IS opposite of the Nether.
Nether is not specifically Hell, but it is also not specifically NOT Hell. It is deliberately left open to interpretation, with features that do not specifically confirm or reject its status as Hell.
Aether is not specifically Heaven, but it is also not specifically NOT Heaven. It is deliberately left open to interpretation, with features that do not specifically confirm or reject its status as Heaven.
If people want to treat Nether as Hell and Aether as Heaven, then they may do so, but ideas for features meant to specifically establish them as such will simply not be considered, just like I've been doing for the past 70+ pages.

So you're basically going to say "I didn't say that." On all these accounts? You're not giving any definite awnser.
I come from the Philisophical grounds which created the concept of "Aether". I believe that's justification for the inflection that I have cast upon the topic.
The main thing to understand is that, yes, The Aether is a "Heavenly" wide open dimension of Light, Air, and Water that exists above the Overworld, and functions as an opposite of the Nether that is a "Hellish" enclosed dimension of Darkness, Rock, and Fire that exists below the Overworld. BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN IT IS SAFE

I read this. It did not seem to conflict with the Element of Aether that has existed in Philosiphy and Relgious Groups for Centurys.
Many of the concepts of the Aether have specifically been designed to act parallel but opposite to how the Nether behaves:
Water doesn't work in Nether - Fire doesn't work in Aether
Obsidian requires the best Pickaxe, takes forever to mine, but requires no crafting, and is the darkest material(black) - Glowstone requires no tools at all, mines as easily as glass breaks, requires extensive crafting, and is the brightest material (light level 15)
Nether is dim lighting - Aether is bright lighting
Nether has no apparent day/night cycle - Aether does have a Daey/Day cycle.
Nether is enclosed and cavernous - Aether is open and spaceous.
Nether has no mobs that can't directly injure the player - Aether has no mobs that can directly injure the player
Other concepts have stemmed from religious concepts, however they are not exclusively religious, like having temples instead of dungeons, needing to go through Nether to be able to gain access to the Aether(purgatory/jesus descent into hell and resurrection), Not having mobs that directly injure the player, glowstone used to create glowing "heavenly gates", the ability to fall back into the Overworld (cast out of heaven)
Ultimately, it doesn't matter what religious/philosophy groups have already discussed about the concept of the aether, this is Minecraft's Aether. I don't care how many Centuries they've been discussing it for.

I'm not disputing those concepts which are paralled with the Nether more so then I disputed in my earlier statement of opinion. I am however disputing that people are allowed to automatically assume that they are heaven/hell metaphors.
The Concept of Aether in Philosiphy is that Aether is a Unifying element which regulates the Balance between all of the natural Elements, and between Heaven and Earth. Aether is widely viewed to be a godly realm from which all creation stems.
If this does not meet your concept of Aether, then this would be less an "Aetherly" realm, and more of an Anti-Nether. This is rather dissapointing, as I see many of the concepts meeting well with the concept of Aether as has been refined over the Generations.
And as for the argument that "This is Minecraft's Aether". There is no need for it to be a Mislabeling, you need not imply it so.

Yeah, that pretty much has absolutely nothing with the current concept of the Aether, but as long as you quit trying to correct people for referring to Nether and Aether as Hell and Heaven as if this was all somehow your idea, then I wont tell you that you can't continue thinking of it in your own excessively capitalized manner.

Simply because your current take on Aether is different, it does not Invalidate the mainstream Philosophical approach. The "Current Concept" as you put it is the one I have described earlier.
You also seem to be assuming that I am asserting that It was my Idea. I had made the assumption that you were using the "Current Concept" of Aether, as most of your Ideas seemed In-line with It. I did not anticipate you having a different concept of it.
Note: I have often been critiscized for capitalization habits. If it Irks you, then I apolagize in advance, for every post I make from here on will most likely have the same affliction.

here's a block type suggestion: a bouncy block. use those to make trampolines and patroling platforms
However I have to ask,
Why would I want to go to the Aether? What is the reward for the player?

By your Method, it's still not exactly the opposite. They are just similar in some Aspects, that I cannot deny.
