Lurker AI:Aggressive
Lurks in the darkness, just out of view of its "prey" (the player or other fish). Its attack style is hit-&-run, where it charges at its target, bites, then swims a certain distance away. It never swims near the surface. Spawn:In deep waters, where it is darker and where there could be more valuable resources. Spawnrate:Uncommon Drops:eat and/or fish Additional Info:bioluminescent (gives off its own light). Like the spider, it has certain parts of its body that glow in the dark, which can give you an early warning when in dark areas.
And here is an example of what I mean by bioluminescence.

I love it! Nice pic! It could drop some sort of "glow scale" or something that you could put into a torch that would work underwater. Crafting would be something like this:
[] [] []
[] []
[] [] = the "glow scale"

I think that the glowscales, instead of being used to craft a special torch, could be ground into glowstone dust, similar to how you get wooden planks from wood. Then players would have another way to make lanterns when that update comes.

i can see myself getting scared shitless swimming around in dark water
awesome
might i suggest a drop though?
Drop: Glowing scales
DropRate: Uncommon
Uses: can put them on top steel Helmets to create a Miner's helmet capable of producing light for a shorter distance than a torch, but its always on
underwater stuff is so cool
im gonna have to wear diamond armor before i get in a lake or ocean looking for those beasts

great idea I almost didn't read this thread :tongue.gif:
maybe this could grab your leg and pull you down to the bottom of the ocean if you sty in the water too long (but it would let you go at the bottom if you did not die)
it could also be more common around squid, like the way wolves kill sheep these kill squid?

sorry I had to yell, but that thing is SO COOL!
(maybe change the name...I thought this was gonna be some weird StarCraft thing)
Lol! Just what I was about to say! And it really would, since abysses is part of my idea, these fish would go GREATLY with those.
Mind if I post up your thread on my Oceancraft thread?
Lurk moar.
Problem?
Feel free to post any of my ideas on the thread.
Like I said, maybe the AI can be programmed to where it only swims in deep waters and never goes near the surface.
Here's another idea; maybe if you hit it, it can be momentarily stunned, which will allow you to kill it before it swims away.
EDIT:
Thanks, I use photoshop on my pictures.
At least it doesn't explode :biggrin.gif:
Hope Notch adds a similar sort of creature to the ocean.
This would be so epic, when i swim arond i always wish there were mobs in the sea to.
