I mostly made these for Qwertyz's Oceancraft thread (http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=67089). These are, as a result, (mostly) underwater mobs. I understand that the designs don't look a lot like eels, but that's what I based them on, so that's what I'm calling them until I get a better name. (Note that I will also probably make new images.)
Eel:
This is a basic eel. They are a common underwater spawn. They move at a medium rate, and they are not hostile unless provoked. When provoked, they try to bite you for two damage. They have five hearts. When they get to one heart, they try to flee at twice their normal speed. When killed, they drop an eel tooth, which can be used instead of flint for arrows that do 150% as much damage.
Electric Eel:
You probably guessed this one was coming. They move slightly faster than your ordinary eel, and are slightly rarer too. They provide a level six light. They are not hostile unless provoked, like the regular eel. Their attack is to touch you, and shock you for two damage. The shock also stuns you for two seconds, which it uses to with draw before attacking again. These eels have a special property. They randomly affect redstone powered objects. Your steel door will go crazy when they are within six meters of it. You don't even need an alarm system! When killed, I'm not sure what they should drop. Two or three piles of redstone, perhaps?
Poisonous Eel:
These are rare spawns, and are always hostile. They attack like a normal eel, but they have twelve hearts, and when they get to six hearts, they withdraw to eight meters away, and spray you with poison. The poison does half a heart per second for six seconds. During this time, you are slowed to 80% your normal speed, and your vision is tinted green. When killed, poisonous eels disintegrate into an unmoving 3x3x3 block of green liquid in place of water, which can then be picked up with buckets. Poison, when placed, spreads six squares, and you cannot create an infinite spring. When stepped on, it does half a heart of damage per second, and for an additional six seconds after you step out.
Lava eel:
My final variant. They spawn in springs of lava. Not lakes. They are always hostile, and move very fast. They also spawn very rarely. Their attack does two damage initially, but proceeds to set you on fire like lava would. They cannot move more than six meters away from lava. When killed, they drop two of the following items, each with the following percentages.
I like the idea, but I imagine this is way down the road.
How do the pictures make the post look less serious?
They look like they were drawn by a 5-year old.
Put some effort into it for crying out loud!
Age does not determine artistic ability.
Anyway, I think it would be cool. And yes, Eel and Fish tanks are needed for pets. You could even make a pool in front of your house as a trap filled with electrics eels.
Do the Eels jump out of the liquid their in, because i am curious as to what the lava eel would be doing attacking you, unless you were IN the lava pool.... Overall, i love the idea.

This is a boring yet remarkably original signature.

Why put so much effort into such a small idea?
Not everyone is a ****ing artist, I cant even make pixel art without a template of some kind, most just dont have the time... Please think before putting someone down.
I like the idea, but the drawings just make them.. Well I don't know.
I like the normal eel and the lava eel!
The others.. I don't know over powered?
Especially the poisonous one. If you came near one, i think your screwed,
Let me start by saying I know this is an old post... but oh well.
I like where your head's at, here. If Oceancraft ever gets implemented, I'd definitely expect to see a couple of these bad boys included. One thing that I'd be kind of wary of, though, is OP'ing them. The combination of high speed, relatively high damage, and (in a couple cases anyway) lingering damage effects (poison/fire) seem like they may be a little much, given the current state of the combat system. But hey, it's worth a shot.
Just another personal whine, the eels leaping out of the lava seems... slightly strange to me. But hey, to each his own. Good work. Keep the ideas coming.

Hey. I'm not an artist. Also, read my first paragraph. I clearly state all you need to know about the pictures there.

Nice idea BTW.
