so i look around my house and i notice one thing: it's dull. very dull. you can make your house as big and small as possible, out of any material, but then it's still... dull.
what i would like to propose are better decorations.
For the slayer:
The Slayer (player killing lots of mobs) can decorate his house with a relatively rare drop: mob heads (since most of the time, you bash it with such force that the beast has a cracked skull. i'm talking perfectly conserved).
imagine decorating your house with skeleton heads, zombie heads, and pigmen heads.
the decoration has to be crafted this way: [] [] [] [] []
for a metal plate at the back or [] [] [] [] []
for a wooden plate ( being the creature heads)
for the creepier Slayer :
[] [] []
[] []
[] []
combining a torch with a skull creates a lit skull. []
[] []
[] []
this creates a lit, diamond-eyed skull for maximum creepyness.
additionally, cow, pig and chicken heads should be possible. all that's left are moose to enter the game.
for the botanist:
pots. small and large pots. crafted from clay
[] []
being clay.
this creates a (large) clay pot, which then has to be cooked in the furnace for the actual pot.
pots then need to be filled with dirt and a flower. this serves as decoration without the need for unsightly blocks of dirt. can also be used for mushrooms, reeds and cacti. this pot BTW is block-sized.
[] [] [] []
[] []
this creates a small pot which can be put on "tables" and is much smaller.
can be used for flowers and mushrooms, and reed (but spawns only one stick of reed, one high),
additionally, pumkins should be farmeable (like, hollowing out produces seeds and a hollowed out pumpkin).
for the builder:
-half-tiles should be placeable on all sides of a block. so on the underside as well.
-"reverse stairs".
[]
[] []
this creates a "stairs" which can be put on the roof and the sides of walls. to create the "ceiling support" for your house.
stairs should be made of more materials than just wood and stone. rock, diamond, iron, mossy cobblestone, etc.
lighting:
this is more of a "far future" idea:
Candles. made from wax (found in bee nests dropped from trees, if we ever get such random things).
candles slowly burn, give off moderate light, and just look awesome. also, there should be "wax blocks" which burn incredibly slowly and give off a large amount of light. i know we just got new eternally burning and eternally lighting blocks, but the nether's not a fun place. also you get a LOT of fire in your house (not ideal for wooden houses) and the lightstones are far from easy to get.
if oil ever gets implemented, oil-fulled lanters would be awesome. also, large dish-like oil fires (ever watched the goauld in Stargate? that, incredibly evil looking way).
[] []
creates a block-sized, placeable burning dish of oil which generates a creepy but cool light. perhaps at the bonus of midly repelling mobs.
these are brilliant ideas although i think if notch makes anymore objects for houses they should be useful for example a bed that can pass time and heal health. Not to say skull torches or mob mounts wouldn't be a totally bamf addition but maybe the skull torch could prevent any fire from its lit location or the mob mounts could summon monsters.

other ideas:
-colored lights. blue, red, green, etc.
-drawer/cupboard (stores stuff)
-Safe:
acts like a chest, immune to annoying stuff like fire and lava.
