With the addition of the squid, I now have my fingers crossed for an o2 tank and underwater flashlight...I have an ocean right next to my main base, and those squid go so deep I can barely see them....

Enjoy written Let's Plays? My blog for them is right here:
First off, I love the new squid. I've detained one and now he's my pet. Second off, the squid are no different than the pig or cow, just underwater. I'm guessing Notch just made them to test underwater motion. This means he will most certainly have more mobs in the water with different personalities. I like squid to be neutral. Since when has a squid ever harmed a human?

Though Humboldt squid only get aggressive when being attacked/fished (from what I know).
While I like the idea of neutral squid, I think sharks would be better for a neutral mob, naturally non-aggressive to humans, but being deadly at the same time.
I like this deeper ocean idea, in relation to underwater vessels I'd like to bring to your attention an Idea I had today, which I subsequently floundered (heh) about trying to explain: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=142196
This would allow construction of submarines, as well as boats. Love the terrain ideas concerning Oceans though! but It does need some limitation on the amount of map covered, there needs to be some landspace, even if just to get started. Perhaps a system like in the nether, where the spawn is shunted to an appropriate spot, if it's in water?

Hey, I like this idea. I don't mean to promote my own suggestion, but I think my suggestion would sort of go hand-and-hand with Oceancraft. It's goggles. Check it out, haha.
one idea for underwater light well two technically.
1: transparency of water increased so light penetrates deeper.
2: lumiencent things such as a special lava flow that is on the ocean floor as in deep trenches.
bioluminesent fish, biluminesent coral.
with a lack of oceans I used a map editor to make one large ocean 14 blocks away from adminium layer and about 600 X 800 blocks then had the contonents around it slope as a continental shelf. Then I took the land i deleted above the serface and sank it lol. As a side effect I have trees down there two :tongue.gif:. next what i did was replace wood and leaves with water then i replaced grass with lightstone. So its not exact but i have lightstone reefs illuminating my ocean. looks awsome at night.
I did this because I built several underwater domes modeled after atlantis with connecting water ways and the ocean just wasn't deep enough now it is :smile.gif: this was in anticipation of water mobs but all we got was squids :sleep.gif:.
Attention to more water related things would be awsome and what I feel minecraft is missing.
I agree with you, on all your points. Very nice.
Also, what did you name your squid? O:

I like it! I'll add it to the OP.

Tell me what you guys think. I think it would be a cool addition to the OceanCraft entire idea.
Epic. Minecraft needs sushi!
WTB! What the bacon! Bacon makes the world go round!
That video didn't even looked like it was attacking. The diver was holding it.

This would make minecraft so much cooler.
