I don't think water pressure is a realism we want in the game. You would simply be diving one moment, and the next you suddenly start losing hearts, or something, for no clear reason. If I were a newbie I'd probably panic and not understand why I was dying, being angry at my items sinking irretrievably towards the sea floor.
That is as true as a wise old yellow elephant at the edge of the universe that grants you wishes if you see it wearing an "I love NY" t-shirt.
So, what you are saying is that it isn't true? I'm nor sure...
Anyway, I want water pressure. It wouldn't be an issue for any current water bases, because the oceans aren't deep enough to affect them, and it adds a "risk and reward" feature to building underwater bases.
Here is how: Let's say you and 10 other people build a super deep underwater base that is capable of withstanding the immense water pressure. It may be a disaster if someone manages to get there, but it is also INCREDIBLY difficult for people to get there. Your base can withstand the water pressure, but other people can't, which makes it nearly impossible for other people to get there without digging under it, or building a large tunnel to it.

Great idea....except what would you make it with? Glass would be ideal...but wouldnt like 60 tons of water (probably more) break glass?
That is why you wouldn't make it entirely out of glass. You would make it mostly out of wood, stone, or iron blocks, then you would have windows spread out.
lol i would reinforce those windows to....ive seen movies were they were in an underwater base or something and the pressure was so immense the only way they could have windows is as if they were made out of plastic or 4 ft thick glass but yea the iron blocks sound good

I would actually call pumpkins uncommon, not rare. I haven't seen many, but you can have lots of them overtime. Besides... pumpkins would look scarily awesome underwater!
they really arnt that rare....if your the kind of guy who just looks for wood builds a house and so on and so forth and never leaves the vicinity of your mining shaft....im sure if you went right over the hill there would be a pumpkin patch or several reed stalks...

All we need is: deeper oceans, a way to have more air under water, maybe a speedier way of mining or digging under water, and a mob or two.
I also like the coral blocks that spawn fish. and the fish just couldnt be caught underwater you would have to go to the surface to fish. maybe you couldnt see the fish from above of you could only see dark shadows. and there would be a swimming mob that would be a risk of catching it while fishing.

lol i dunno....maybe if i was the complaining type i would say its "too futury"...cause its like...pickaxe...wooden hoe...wooden shovel that breaks after 5 usues and ten..OMFG MINING LAZORZ.

I don't like the idea of a redstone mining laser specifically, but if the redstone laser suggestions I have read about were implemented, perhaps they could be given the ability to break blocks at a slow rate? Then you could make an underwater laser-powered mining station :biggrin.gif:.
Part of my underwater outfit ideas (that was added to the main post) is that the diver's suit allowed you to mine underwater at your normal on-land speed.

I once saw a chicken push a creeper off of a cliff. I never looked at chickens the same way ever again. That is of course until I needed feathers.
Frankly I'm disappointed. The squid just tried to run away while I attacked him, but instead he ran into my wall underwater. Yes I'm trying to get an underwater house, I think it'll be worth it. The squid is a disappointment. Didn't attack back at all, and he didn't drop anything.
I would rather it be a squid than a sea serpent however. Notch should build up the ocean from the ground up, not the top down.
Anyway, the squids are funny if you think about them long enough. For that, I give Notch and the squids a single diamond ore:

Squids drop ink.
And I was a little disappointed that they don't fight. I was gonna put like 30 of them in a pen on multiplayer and release them when my ocean city was under attack.

So? They look weird, and are quite rare.
Support!
Dragons need to be implemented. No arguments.
