To the good man who posted something about how atlantis may look like: I love that idea, although it would have to be UNDERWATER. And the dirt should be replaced with marble or some amazingly cool rock/mineral. This is atlantis, not a castle... Otherwise, I completely agree that that could be a building in atlantis.
Since you guys have begun discussing the possibility of creating Atlantis, I thought I'd offer an expansive undersea dome that I created in singleplayer. The dome is capable of housing numerous buildings and possibly even small skyscrapers.
Here are some pictures:
And here are the rudimentary schematics for the size and construction of the dome.
Note: Approximately 75% of the dome's mass is beneath the ocean. (I couldn't find a trench deep enough to submerge the entire structure.)

Really, the dome I built is just a framework for others to build off of/customize; however, Atlantis will require a map with a significantly raised water level and a flat surface to build on (as clearing blocks underwater is too slow at the moment). Unfortunately, I misjudged the depth of the trench I built the prototype dome in. It was originally planned to be entirely submerged.
Since I built the dome in survival with mobs on, I can definitely say that Creepers got annoying during the building. Also, draining several thousand source blocks of water without a bucket proved to be difficult.
Underwater sea vents that spew noxious gas: Dont ask why.
On a serious note, I actually think that coral should spawn eels :biggrin.gif: (if they are implemented). Mostly because some eels like to stay inside of coral formations and jump out to catch a fish right outside of his hole... IDK. Did not do research on this.
One thing that would be good with this is for doors to let water through when they are open. This allows for more realistic airlocks, and provides more challenge when using an underwater base.
Um, why don't you like the scuba gear? You have to extend your breath somehow underwater. The boats, well, thats just your opinion, Notch can take and leave any ideas he doesn't like.
1. Storms
Occasionally at a day the land could get darker, grey and seas would rise by one block or two.
the rarity of storms would be like 5%
Whirlpools may occasionally appear in the middle of the sea and boats have a 10% chance to sink
trees in the shore can disappear and players and loose blocks also boats in the shore could be blown by the wind.
2. Whirlpools
they can suck anything , pulling them to the center they can have a rarity of 15% during storms and can appear from the size of 2x2x2 blocks or 5x5x5 blocks
they appear deeper every block (depth)
3. Thunder and lightning
They appear as a flashing light level of 5 to 10 in the sky and hits any object that is high (like a skyscraper or a tree) they destroy and ignites blocks(destroys the same size as 1 tnt) Their rarity is about 10% during a storm and does a base damage of 5 hearts and ignites the a player or a mob if they get hit.
Well thats it i hope you would add it to oceancraft
THANKS

I love the whirlpools! Though, they should rather be a natural hazard, than spawned by an event, so they just spawn when the map is generated. The other two ideas are further discussed in other threads.
I'll edit my post with whirlpools, though, not your design, you will get credit for inspiring it though!
If I may make a suggestion, maybe for the natural events that can destroy houses could be stopped from destroying the house using a specialized block? That way people can still build on beaches.
I think diving suits and subs are a good idea, for building and exploration, also, ships need to be bigger, and faster on the open water, the oceans must feel huge and unending!
Ghost Pirates would be awesome. They'd spawn at night on dark, wide oceans and would just sail around the seas on big, blue-ish transparent, glowing ships and don't bother if you where close to them. If you sailed into the ship you'd be transported into it, like with The Nether. The inside would be like a big dungeon with chests all over the place and Ghost Pirate Mob Spawners. It would be like the ghost ship in LoZ: Wind Waker, with the weird music when it's near and stuff, see?
The Ghost Pirate mobs would have 2 modes, cutlass and pistol.
With the cutlass they'd fly around and swoop down on you ones when they see you. After they swoop down they'd land and attacking you on ground, which would allow Mojang to add awesome sword duels with epic fight music!
With the pistol they'd also fly around but shoot on you, and after shooting a shot they'd have to reload for 5 seconds and would slowly fall to the ground while doing this, which would give you a chance to hit them with your sword.
There could also be a boss mob inside, the Captain.
The Captain would shoot a shot at you when he sees you but would throw a bottle of rum at you that'd put a block on fire. If you got to close he'd bring out his cutlass and fight you in close combat. If he had less than 4 hearts he'd start yelling after his crew who'd come to help him (maybe 1-3 ones each time).
Thanks! I were a little worried that the pistol wielding Ghost Pirates and the Captains rum throwing attack would be hated (for involving pistols and alcohol).
I like the idea, though, I should have probably said a little more. It needs to be toned down a bit. Until we get a good amount of things (Guns, super-entities, etc), it seems a bit unfeasible. Still, really like the idea.
No alcohol, though, Notch wants to keep this game open to all ages.
Adding to BombJason's (pretty sure that's your username) fantastic pirate idea. One thing to add if that gets implemented perhaps if hypothetically implemented, a mega mob version of the pirates would be ... Well, I think you can guess. The Flying Dutchman!!!!!! I just wanted to get that out...

Dragons need to be implemented. No arguments.

do you wanna know what would suck?
a creeper destroying a wall

I'll be honest with you, I've never actually played Magic: The Gathering before.

Can only grow underwater on any material/block. Grows in variety of colors. Deals damage as Cacti does.
Too many pages to read. Sorry if this was already suggested.

I wonder what the mob will be? An aquatic mob is LONG overdue. Also diamands for you!
