I LOOOOOOVE making underwater homes and buildings and such! This is what i've been waiting for! While it is kinda cool to reside underwater, it lacks a certain something that should give more of a charm. Instead of looking out a window and seeing water flowing downwards and bleak nothing. WE COULD HAVE THIS STUFF!!!
****ing magnificent idea.
Yes, I too would like a bigger ocean, especially since I have just recently built an underwater house... It is very uninteresting to go down there for even a little.

The pink one doesn't even look like a kind of animal.
I'm about to go on a large ... rant on how we should implement atlantis... Someone said we should implement it and I give him diamonds for such an amazing idea.
Anyway, My first idea is that it should NOT have futuristic technology. Would ruin minecraft. It should instead have a group of Mer-People (Mermaids basically, but webbed feet, not a fish tail) that live there, and it should be relatively big, but not enough to be glitchy. However, it can't be small!
Now, benefits I will leave to you, but the most important one I wanted to put out there for benefits would be MARBLE. The whole place should be made of the stuff, mostly because wool is not shiny enough, plus it simply doesn't look like marble.
Marble would be rather easy to mine with a diamond pickaxe, but it would almost only be able to mine with a diamond pickaxe. Iron would take 15 seconds, but diamond taking around 1.5-2 seconds... We can't have marble be seeming like titanium.
Seeing as though Atlantis is not simply a city with mermaids, it should have actual treasure! Gold, diamonds especially, but maybe weapons, like special harpoons, IDK. Again, I leave the benefits to you.
I'm also thinking a great idea would be if there are different types of mer people so that it's not just one race. One could be very intimidating, like a guardian, and civilians much like humans.

BTW Guys, there has to be some easy way of making an underwater house, because everyone does it and I seem to be having a hard time with it... Any suggestions? Videos?

By easy, do you mean the draining out of the water? Then no, you have to place dirt blocks in every, single water block to drain it out. =/

What I do is I place the dirt blocks first, and then add the walls, ceilings, and floors around it. This makes everything easier because once you're all done, all that's inside is the dirt and there's no water to drain; so all you have to do is break the dirt blocks inside.

I suggest digging a quarry, building a base in there, and then flooding it.

Imagine him without the wings. Maybe carrying a weapon, or two...
Ideas? Critiques? Additions?
Love your ideas, but can't help but find it entertaining that your idea of a guardian is a wingless Cthulhu.
Other than that I love this entire idea, an underwater world would be awesome.

Since you guys have begun discussing the possibility of creating Atlantis, I thought I'd offer an expansive undersea dome that I created in singleplayer. The dome is capable of housing numerous buildings and possibly even small skyscrapers.
Here are some pictures:
And here are the rudimentary schematics for the size and construction of the dome.
Note: Approximately 75% of the dome's mass is beneath the ocean. (I couldn't find a trench deep enough to submerge the entire structure.)
Yes, I too would like a bigger ocean, especially since I have just recently built an underwater house... It is very uninteresting to go down there for even a little.

Dragons need to be implemented. No arguments.
Atlantis? Such an overused name for underwater cities XD
But an underwater mob town would be amazing, though we should see if mob towns even make it to the land before they go into the oceans..
Also, if you build rapture, I will be your freakin' ass monkey.

Anyways, I'm working on my first underwater house right now, taking awhile to drain, hahaha. Wish I had some water absorbing sponge.
and some kind of spear wich is crafted like this

then ad a rope to it in the craft table
[] [] [>>-i>]

when [>>-i>] is the crafted Sear
when
so we could pull the enemy to us like the fishing rod.
the Spear would make damage every seconds and would be pickable.
