Since the tip of an arrow is flint, and if you mix steal and flint you can make fire, I figured, If you combined gunpowder with the spark that an arrow would make when hitting an object should make it explode.
Now, I'm not saying any huge explosion or anything, just maybe a 2x2 or 3x3 at the most.
I got the idea from Creepers. There was so much in a hole, I just wanted to explode them all without hurting myself in any way. So I thought arrows, and explosions, and here it is.
It adds another use for gunpower. But Flint is pretty hard to find, and gunpowder is annoying to collect (I might have 3 TNT's all togeather) so making these in bulk would take forever. These shouldent have much destroying power (as you said, 3x3x3 max) but should instant kill any mob caught in the blast.

I'm a pixel artist trainee, and I still need to hone my skills.
Oh yea, and I'm a brony :3

Yes, but some people play this game a lot, so its like an upgrade over time. Also, gunpowder isn't that hard to get if you have a mob trap. Here's a tutorial I found on how to make one:

<.< >.> I probably shouldn't say this...but flint is actually really easy to get.
Find a patch of gravel and dig. Dig up a bunch. Flint has always fallen pretty liberally for me, maybe I'm just weird. But when you've dug it all up again, lay the gravel all back down and dig it again. You'll find some guarunteed. Keep it up long enough you you'll get one from every square.
No, I have a stack of about 30 Flint in my chest at home, and a good stash of arrows that i made from flint. Just go mining sometime, and dig out all of the gravel.
Also, why do you need a piece of iron in there too?
A 2x2 Explosion could suffice. I don't know about "Automatic Kill" for Mobs, maybe just creepers by making them also explode. Maybe other monsters should be two hits?
The problem with a 2x2x2 explosion is where does it go?
With a 3x3x3, you can center the explosion on whichever block the arrow hit.
I dont think that has to be a problem:
Remember that when you drop an item, it's not exactly on the middle of a square. It can be anywhere on the square, or even above multiple ones. Also, your movement is 'fluid' - not per block. These two facts prove that the game can deal with coordinates within each block, too.
So imagine this is one block:
This is a 4x4 grid:
if you'd hit at the red block, the green area would explode:
Risugami's elemental arrow's mod. Look it up. I agree however that it should legitimately be added to the game.
However, if you want this, you can have it.

Minecraft must NOT turn into the next WoW or Runescape.

Wow, he has some good arrows. However, yes, I want this for the normal game.

The idea they had was flint head of the arrow + iron = spark to ignite your gunpowder
Yes.
I supose your right about that... Ok, so a 3x3x3, and explodes on impact, also explodes Creepers in particular.

I guess you get my point.
Besides, 3x3 would be very overpowered.
