Looks awesome. Just keep in mind that the "red/blue stone" spaces would have to detect redstone and bluestone power separately, because otherwise it would just serve as a converter from red to blue power.
Discussing the idea of having separated circuits, I think it should be possible to merge circuits. What I mean by this is having a crossover torch (running on the assumption of only two circuit types, blue and red). This torch would allow the transfer between the two types of circuits so that I could have separately functioning micro circuits, that could then interact with each other. The crossover torch would take whatever input (red or blue) and produce the opposite output.
This would be useful if I wanted to have two outputs from a system, that interact with systems close to each other. I could use one type of input (redstone) and break it into bluestone on one side of the outputs then run the two circuits on the same blocks, before getting to their systems and convertin the one back to bluestone.
Just thought that could be cool.
What do you think the purplestone torch is for?

How does the bluestone and redstone interact with each other? You can put it next to each other but technically you cannot utilize both at the same time :sleep.gif:
lets add greenstone!!!!!!! XD XD XD
Why greenstone? because then youll have a way to actually connect both wires
That is what purplestone is for.
GAH!
People are getting confused.
The new dusts will be
REDSTONE
BLUESTONE
PURPLESTONE(interacts with both)
RED/BLUESTONE(both on same tile, seperate)
works for me.... to be honest, i enjoy the challenge of trying to fit redstone circuits into small 3d areas, but this would obviously make things a lot easier as well as save on room.
I registered for this forum specifically to suggest the ability to dye redstone, and I was happy to see that upon searching, the idea had already been suggested.
However, I was disappointed to discover that the suggested idea in this thread is overly complex and I think misses the point. It would be nice to solve the problem of overlapping circuits, but I think that is farther down the road than simply dye.
I was picturing something much more simple. You take any existing dye that you own, combine it with redstone in some proportion, and then create a colored redstone.
The new, colored redstone (would admit any dye color) is PURELY aesthetic. It would serve no differing functional purpose than regular redstone. The reason why I want this is for organizational and design purposes.
It is much easier for me (and I'm sure others) to tinker with their circuits when they have colored wires, which is all I really want. Added functionality can wait.
Give me colored wires, and I will be happy. I do not need additional complex behavior, just the ability to color my wires. When I tinker with my real-life circuits, I also use colored wires, and I assume most others do the same!
Didn't look to see if I'd posted my support for this before, but I agree with this idea! Specifically, I like the part that shoots down Yellowstone and Greenstone :smile.gif: The best way to add functionality to ANYTHING without it becoming diluted and uninteresting is to follow the KISS rule :smile.gif:
Although I was thinking bluestone dust would be more for string values, thus adding a whole field for redstone dust to go into.
Like to make a display screen it'd be
which would display the string
there'd also have to be a bunch of way to detect a string. But this'd be way too much work.
Maybe for your idea have it so dyes can be used with redstones so you can just dye it a color and it'll be a different wire, and one connector that universally connects all wires..
Ohai. I actually just released a Bluestone mod - the mechanics aren't quite like you suggested (at least, not yet), and it's not 100% finished, but it's definitely a start. Although I hadn't actually seen this suggestion before making the mod, I like the ideas here, and they're probably the direction that I'll be taking the mod in. Just thought I'd let you know :biggrin.gif:
I think this is a good idea; even though I'm no redstone engineer, it'd be a feasible and practical solution for engineering projects to not be all muddled.

You don't need a parachute to go skydiving; you only need a parachute to go skydiving twice.

Get it?
PURPLESTONE IS NOT RED/BLUESTONE.
+1 vote from me
yes, but Lapis Lazuli looks enough like diamond ore already: 3 blue ores would be annoying.

with the new redstone blocks if this idea was made real, we would need blue stone blocks..
