i would like if you could explore and find like vilages/towns with cpu players . it would be cool if it was a combio of sims/minecraft where you could become a higher official and conquer land. any suggestions on this. post them below
I think it should be more like a block you can place, and NPCs will soon come to the town you created.
and then place the blocks in the buildings, and the NPCs will use them as their homes, you know what im saying?
It would be a little cooler for me considering ive already created like, 3 towns in my main world.
This way, the people will help you fight monsters, but you'll also have control as to where the NPCs will hang out.

The Hunter races ever forward, Full of vim naught can dispel.
Loyal, stubborn and straightforward, He'd follow a friend straight to Hell.
An issue with this would be the AI. While it's suitable for mobs as what else is an enemy going to do but run at you when they know where you are, towns would require restraint codes and elements more dynamic. Otherwise you just have a bunch of pigs with human models jumping around until they wander of. That and so far AI is designed to revolved around the player. The AI would disappear when you left the town and appear in random locations as you wandered. And with enemies, we would have to deal with AI thats responsive to fighting other enemies rather than the Player: and this is something big budget companies of hundreds of advanced techies still struggle with in modern games.
Really, this could all be obsolete in the future when multilayer support gets more elaborate. Servers of high membership where people get a designated area to build a hut, or maybe everyone plays as "servants" to a massive castle as you fight mobs and attain ore. Villages, at least for me, are only fun when there is an element of practicality and "other people" to it. AI's don't cut it.
If notch already made mobs able to stay out of danger, then I'm pretty sure he would be able to make AI villagers be bound to their villages, maybe make them able to go out and do activities and then come back or even migrate to other villages if he has the skill and he takes his time.
And I'm sure notch could make village mobs get saved to your world and make them just freeze while you're not around.
AI don't cut it in regards to multiplayer but in singleplayer they have to be as elaborate as possible.
Also any of you who have problems having human mob villages, what about goblin villages?
ok if it can be turned off. I would rather see Notch spend his time coding something else though.

Minecraft must NOT turn into the next WoW or Runescape.
Notch has an IQ over 130. He isn't stupid.
For some reason my hell looks like a train station....
Like what? He's already coding for the holloween update, after that he has the spare time to add other features.
It's not like he or any of us are dying within the next year so I don't mind him spending his time thinking about features and then adding and improving them.
No game should be rushed.
What I say is let Notch decide, if he doesn't want to that's fine by me, but if does add it, and it turns out well that fine too.
Isn't the whole mood of Minecraft supposed to be loneliness? Creating a whole world when there is no one to populate it.. pointlessly designing practical everyday things that no one will use, and amazing structures that no one will see.
And yet you move on.. craft on..
The End..
No really though, that's like the main theme and feeling of minecraft. Adding a bunch of other civilizations is besides the point. I do like the idea of monster settlements, but not other humans. No no no..
But their still people and simians and thus humans right? D=
And whats to say about survival multiplayer?
Also if you could have either a friendly or aggressive relationship with some random monkey people I don't think there would be much difference with humans.
Monkey people are waaaaaaaaay more intriguing than other humans.
And Survival Multiplayer is a lot different. Especially cause there are actual other players playing. Not CPUs. It's not supposed to have that misty lonely feeeeeeeling.

hahahahahahaha oh that made my day.
have you ever coded AI?
Making something avoid danger is much harder than codng AI that lives like normal people in a city.

You pretty much said exactly what I said.
If he would have no trouble making ai avoid danger (Which you said is harder) or make mobs destroy terrain without making swiss cheese out of every hill I'm sure he could make a AI village.
If he has the skill to make AI villages, with time he can make AI villages.
I don't even care if he doesn't even add goblin villages, I would even get over it if he finished minecraft now, and leave it as it is, it's just a suggestion.
But really, can't we just let out whatever frustrations we have, and just point out each contradictions and flawed opinions in a civilised manner?
A lot of people disagree with this because of atmospheric purposes, which I understand and agree with, I just find it better to see if this idea can be approved on, and if it really can't leave it out entirely.
