Ok, first off, you're suggestion is very well-designed and explained, and I'm sure you put a lot of time and effort into this.
I honestly think this would make Minecraft waayyyy too dark of a game. Sacrifices? Summoning the dead? Why don't you use "NecroCraft" as the title of a completely new game that uses these ideas, and leave all this here voodoo out of my diggin' pasttime. Plus, it just adds more complicated stuff to a game that's core gameplay still isn't finished. The Nether is pushing things already. I honestly think Notch should've waited 'till the game was released, or at least much farther into Alpha, before adding the Nether.
Necromancy? In my Minecraft?
My Suggestions on Goblin Villages
Heh, with those, you could add the finishing touches on a seige of some poor sap's castle.
Actually, what I meant by stationary, is mobs (or living blocks) that can't move on it's own. Ever.
(Especially how you can make your own army to glue your pieces back together IN HE-THE NETHER!)
Maybe it did, maybe it didn't. But this doesn't seem like it would make its way in there.
Notch doesn't like blood, it won't work out the way you intend it, if it works out at all.
Of course its not blood!
Its Kool-Aid or as a alternative Red Gatorade!
He didn't say it was bloody...
...Except he removed the gore from the original skin. Because it was bloody.
Ah, but we aren't talking about gore, we are talking about vials of blood that pop out of the corpses.
A normal summoned spider would be good, but a whole book would be a little much for two recipies, less you could use it for other, more special purposes (command tome?).
Edit: Less, maybe, you could ride spiders. The limitations could be that spiders get too agressive at night, and thus not ridable, so you would have to take trips at daytime. They could be slower than horses (if implemented), but retain any powers they might get as spiders, such as jumping over blocks when moving at any speed (where as horses would need running start), and maybe climbing up walls (if implemented).
Hmm. Good question. I'd imagine mobs on guard would definately stay (Would suck if you leave your mobs at home, and accidently fall into lava, then spawn, only to find your castle vacant), but the mobs following you would be pretty iffy.
For large battles and such, it would suck to have your army dissapear right when you die, destroying countless hours of your work in one seige, but on the other hand, it would be odd to have that one skeleton that you lost 2 weeks ago still chilaxing in that one cave over there. Id imagine both would stay till they died, but what do you think?
Lets call the blood vial, the vial filled with red evil goopy essence? Though bodies should stay, seeing as this thread is about raising the dead, not frolicking through a field of flowers, while holding a small baby animal.
Also, spiders as an alternitive, summonable, mount, y/n?
Maybe when you die, mobs following you will wander over to your spawn point, but there's no guarantee that they'll all survive. Whatever killed you could kill some of them.
