As much as this is a bit "odd" I can't but help think that this would be so much fun! But as allot of these suggestions are, it does seem a little complicated for one part of the game. I think people need to remember that there is a whole other selection of things to do in Minecraft, some of the suggestions should maybe be toned down a little. To give room for the other great features of the game. Not to say that I don't like your suggestion though! The handwork you put into this is very admirable of you! Impressive!

"OPEN YOUR DOOR OR I SHALL OPEN YOUR WALL! HISSSSS!"
If NecroCraft is implemented as a mod or an ingame feature, if you DON'T LIKE IT, you DON'T HAVE TO USE IT! So why are you whinging about Steve the minecraft guy turning into Harry Potter?

Yea, im about to put up a simplified version on getsatisfaction. I realise that the complexities make this a large idea, and also one less likely to get in. Thanks for saying my work in paint was admirable, though :tongue.gif:

~ I've thought about the phrase 'Money is the root of all evil' and I have to disagree. Evil isn't dependant on an object. I say that want is the root of all evil.
Yea, I can get that the idea isn't approved that much because of that. My response is:
Gameplay > Political Correctness
I mean, its been proven with first person shooters, hasn't it? If I can shoot a bunch of people in games, why can't I summon the undead?
More on the topic: I know a few games that have necromancing in it, more or less, without getting hurt in sales.
In Diablo, its a whole character class, complete with abilities.
In Morrowind, it goes as far as discussing part of the process, like how to secure the dead body and such, and it was a wildly successful game in part of a still on-going series.
If its not wrong for those games, why can't it be inside a game about limitless possibilities?
Basically:
If I can murder 20 people in a video game, and have it be alright, why can't I summon the undead?

True, but it's a very different kind of magic than you would think of if somebody just said the word magic.
Sure, Necromancy doesn't immediately come to mind, but on its base level it is still magic, not much different at all from what we usually think of. The energy is just being directed to a different task.

Well, its more of a "craft" style of magic than other kinds. You don't actually cast any spells; just arrange things in a pattern and get a summon out of it. Its like I said earlier: Sticking 3 cubic meters of cobbleston and and 2 sticks on a table, and having them instantly form tools is pretty magical itself. Even if it doesn't hint at it.

Not really, you are using a work bench to aid in shaping the materials, and tools are shown on the sides of the workbenches. Its not magic, its crafting. Thats why its called crafting.
My god, I love this idea so much it is the best and most reasonable idea i have ever seen on these forums. A quick idea- What if before summoning a monster, you had to fight it first? Like, it would teleport you to some sort of boxed arena with your current inventory? Sorry if this has already been suggested, I have not read through the entire thread.

But, your using cubic meters of small, cobbled together stone, and two seperate sticks to make it, without bonding agent.
I agree that its more of a poor arguement for necrocrafting, though. I'll stick with the "its more craft-like than other magics" rationality.

hey, i like it alot! but... one problem. NO PIGMEN. >.< u need zombie pigmen at all costs. zombie pigmen just rock the world around and all. and... no creepers? >:ohmy.gif:
i can help but feel a Little like complaining a bit but first, i really do like the idea, with the odds in favor of more and more dangerous mobs try to kill u, help full mobs can only help cause eventually, your going to start making enemy with CPU army.
necromancy DOES NOT= golem, golems are more permanent, repairable, and cost a arm a leg to make but then still need a way to maintain control of them which is even farther from cheap, and as long as u have something to control them they don't flip out and i sort of see them with changeable parts, being made something like
[] []
[] = a slot used just to make the shoulders like nice by adding a nice disign based on items(flag of ur empire or what ever?) optional the head, not cheap metal/stone (maybe wood) for arms or legs base on where it is placed, only in blocks just the hands but just like the arms and legs normal bars, maybe blocks core, NOT CHEAP AT ALL, basically the arm and the leg cost of it, and no, it is not just lava, it is a item u must craft
most of this is partly for show, rare items are to show the power possible for the golem, being mainly from the core and head
golems can be equpied with items like a person, but not armor
this is costly enough u might not have more then two at any one time simply because of the cost, i am not sure about who the control would work or how the head and core would, it is all just a idea

Got NecroCraft on Getsatisfaction, here.
Necromancy is nothing but magic. Though zombies can theoretically be created through science, the way he describes it is magic.
