Do want. YES!!! I would like to suggest the idea of something, though. How about a "Titan"? (Yeah, I know you called them that) Basically, it's a HUUUUUUUGE monster that lives in Hell, bigger than a whole CHUNK. To defeat him, well, you can't, but you can put him to sleep. He drops diamond blocks in his wake, and has a 100 diamond-block brain, with a gold block heart filled with golden apples to boot. Being eaten, when the snout is turned to you, instantly crushes you if hit by teeth, or starts to drown you in the spit. Reaching the stomach will slowly harm you (dissolve), and surviving that will leave you about 10 minutes to get to it's Shrine. The Shrine is a place below the heart, where monsters spawn regardless of light, and do 10x more damage. Destroying the Shrine's Core, a glass-enclosed diamond block, puts the Titan to sleep. You gain lots of :GP:. Upon doing so, you get and . Then you get a Medal, not a token, and a teleporter back to the surface.
Get it?
(And yeah, I DO realize that this would mean tons of coding for Notch, but it would make the game a LOT funner!!!)

Great idea, though shouldn't being able to ride them be more difficult?
Maybe catching them from surprise? Jump from a giant mountain to it's back and latching on, then climbing up to it's head as it shakes and rocks to get you off, you make it to it's head and drive a sword through it's skull.
Yesss pleaseee! I actually thought that mega-monsters like this would be really awesome, after a playthrough of Shadow of the Colossus (your Rock Giant picture.) In fact, just having Colossi would be a pretty awesome addition to the game. Imagine climbing up a hill, only for the hill to get up and start moving?
Though I think that dragon-like creatures could be a mega-creature genre on it's own.
So instead of Ice Dragon, here's my proposal: A giant crystalline lizard that crawls around and breathes blizzards.
+1000 awesomeness if some kind of Shadow of the Colossus-like combat mechanic is added for these kind of monsters.
This is a fantastic idea, but for the sake of minecraft engine and abilites, I think it'd be best to do only the giant turtle and maybe some kind of giant elephant type creature. The dragons and other things seem too detailed and perhaps not right for the general look of minecraft. I like the idea of building homes on top of it though. Fantastic!
Edit: also, the thought of controlling them in some manner. Controlling where they walk and whatnot would be interesting.
I like the concept, you think its terrain, then realise its a ruddy monster!
However you might have noticed.
There are no slopes in the game. Only blocks. I'm not sure if the programming currently works with slopes.
I mean, the blocks on the monster would have to tilt for its movement. Which means each block would need to be rotated. Walking, and drops effected by gravity, might be a problem
Of course it is all possible, its just a matter of how much change is required to incorporate it in the game.
Hope it gets added!

well, after about 2 hours of work because i was afraid someone would delete the titan if i left, im done.
Now, its not good, i know, i didnt give it an armor, and i didnt even complete his right arm, but i was short of time so i did what i could, now a few details that i learned:
-The cubical form in general, should be taken for the titans too, i made this one look as human as i could without planing, and i tell you, the space inside the titan is pretty small to fit the organs and structure, so it should be cubical.
-we should find some material from the muscle tissue, in here i used red cloth
-there are mostly issues with how this would move, i look at the size and it seems pretty complicated
-we need to work on the proportions
-another interesting subject was violence, while minecraft is about killing mobs and so on, its not really violent, but as i built this thing, i realised that the whole killing it and geting into the flesh of this monsters could be really violent if its not well done, thats something to think about.
The skeleton
Here im starting to do the flesh
and completed
beard!
Here i cut it in half so you couls see the insides (i made him a stomach)
a close up to the mouth so you can see how it works
I love the idea not just of titans, but of roaming bits of land that we can build off of. Imagine managing to tame a Rock Giant and building a full iron fortress on his back. Then gathering a piece of Pork on a String (or attach a piece of cooked pork to a fishing line?) and using him to traverse the world with you on his back. I also like the turtle idea, but I think the problem lies with technical production. At the moment I think these ideas are all just out of reach from what we can practically do. I think we need to wait and see how Notch manages mega chunks before we try to make super mega titan chunks.
Excellent work Hyena, it really puts the whole idea into perspective to be able to see one standing in front of you.
But, I am starting to agree with some of the posts stating that we won't be able to implement this without having more than what we do currently. Once we know how Notch is going to implement mega mobs, we can better plan super mega mobs.
Not that I'm giving up mind you. Just recognizing that without a clearer plan of action we won't get very far.
i did mess up with the skeleton,it should have been much thiner, but yeah for this to be applied we need some fixing in the engine and in the physics, i was thinking today, that once you got up and started diging into the insides, unless there is some new physics that allow the titan to throw you away from his back its impossible to be killed and it kinda kills the difficulty the titan should give you...
What about flying ones? I know there was one in shadow od the collossus, might be hard without scripted sequences (in shadow you have specific terrain and technique) thoughts - a great flying ray type thing. Giant birds ect
As far as flying titans are concerned, my concern is that whatever titan is designed needs to fit in the biome it's assigned to as well as have a solid design. The ice dragon can fly because dragons are allowed to fly. But I struggled to think of other flying titans that could fit other biomes. A giant bird or ray, in addition to being too close to copying Shadow of the Colossus, would be too frustrating to fight. The titan would only be able to face you in the air, and bringing it down would be unsatisfying because once on the ground the bird would be relatively helpless. Compare that to downing a dragon; that's an accomplishment, because now you've brought the beast to your level where you can fight it on your terms. It's giving the player power and control over the fight. For a giant bird, all the challenge is bringing it down, because once it is down there is nothing else really to do. Leaving the entire fight in the air is a bad decision because one false step and you go splat.
I feel that any flying titan that is primarily in the air would be all too frustrating. On top of that, what biome would be used? A cloud biome? That doesn't make sense in the context of the other environments. A water biome so you can fall without dying? That would be better suited to an aquatic titan, so you're fighting in the environment and experiencing it, rather than having the titan detach you from the landscape. Same with something like a forest; a better titan design is one that forces you to fight in the trees, not over them.
I'm not saying it's a bad idea to have a flying titan; it just poses a unique design issue. The titan can only include flight as a second step to the fight; it can't be it's primary form of engagement.
On the other hand, I like the idea of a fight taking place over several landscapes. For this instance, a mega mob would be better; rather than being comprised of blocks and being huge and so on, go for a smaller scale so a bird wouldn't be out of place. It also wouldn't be as tough, so such a fight wouldn't drag on and lead to frustration. Finally, since it isn't a titan it could show up in a multitude of environments, so it gives a broader overall experience.
If I recall, there may be a floating island biome. So if you fell off of a giant flying titan, you could land on an island nearby and not die. This also means that killing it could make it just stop in the air and become a new landmass, while forcing it out of the sky would be... Not a very smart idea
Concerning tokens: I pondered that one for a while myself. The obvious solution is destroying a token, but that doesn't guarantee anything. You might not see a titan for days, and you'd have no way to change your mind if you were no longer prepared to face one.
What if the tokens worked like the way to make portals. If you have the type of block that the titan is made of, then you can make a square and have the token in the middle. This would keep the titan from spawning while you can just break the frame of the thing holding the token, and bring keep the token in inventory or whatever you want to place it in.

Nice job.
I don't think that's how Notch is going to implement the MegaMobs/dragons/superstructures.
It might be so resource intensive on Titan Creation but from then on it's just the same way the normal game runs. I'd assume.
