Hello fellow Minecraft community members, I have three suggestions today :smile.gif:
My first suggestion is to make book shelves like chests, you can open an interface and store/take out books which you can type information in. I think this would be cool, so you could for example, make a diary of your explorations and jot them into a book you can store in the book shelf. In multiplayer, this could be used for treasure hunting. You could write some directions to a buried treasure, and have your friends search the bookshelf, take the book and use it as a treausure map.
My second suggestion is trap doors. A basic wooden or iron door that opens like a trap door would. Trap doors should take the texture of the surrounding blocks around it, so if you put the trap door in grass, it turns into a grass texture, and if you put the trap door in dirt, it turns into a dirt texture, so that the door becomes a secret entrance. Trap doors can be activated with redstone to make traps for unwanted visitors.
My third suggestion is for furnaces. The front of the furnace only faces one direction, so if your trying to go for aesthetics, you might not always get the look you want, so I think the front of the furnace should face the player when it is placed.
That's all the suggestions I have for today, thanks for reading!

You can't see the truth if you've already been blinded by lies.
The bookshelves and book idea is amazing, I thought of hat before but I never really thought it out. It would be great for adventure mode. The trap door is a bad idea because there would be griefers or jerks on SMP that would dig to adminium and put a trap door over it. Considering health will be implemented it would kill the player also.
I really want the books in this. It would be awesome to write stories and hide them in your base for other players to read. and I've always seemed to be lucky with furnaces; they are always the way I want them to be.
Out of those three suggestions, I'd most like to see trapdoors. I've always been one to hide myself, my house, and my belongings, particularly in games. You could have a seemingly empty dwelling even without torches built into the mountainside, and then a hidden trap door that reveals the actual estate. When PvP SMP is out, it would especially be a must have.
The book idea has a lot of potential for adventure mode. You could either leave one lying out somewhere, like a table, or hide it in a bookshelf! :biggrin.gif:
When you place it, it gives you the text option, and when someone clicks on it, they get to read it, but can't pick it up, they can only destroy it like a sign.

With furnaces, why not proper stair and door placement too?

or coal/charcoal.

But I was just thinking of a text interface like the signs, that doesn't require materials.
That's irrelevant to any of the suggestions.
They can be used to draw!

Trapdoors would also be AWESOME btw!
