Hey Guys,
I have heard people complaining about how you can make ladders, but can leave rungs out.
Most people think it looks pretty bad, and I tend to agree. However that doesn't mean it shouldn't be possible to use, because it's only a small one metre gap.
However having those gaps in a ladder would make it harder to climb right?
I propose a simple change, that climbing ladders which are missing every second rung should be slower then full ladders.
It just adds a reason to make full ladders other then for appearance.
It is actually easier to get off of a ladder if there is a gap at the landing. It is easier to get down a hole in the floor if there isn't a ladder on the first block. Ladder gaps make lighting tall narrow shafts possible. Overall, gaps make it easier to use ladders and so I think they should be left as is. If people don't like the gaps they don't have to use them.
Personally I always have full ladders. I think half ladders look ugly...but if someone else wants to use oddly spaced ladders I really don't care...let them
Well, gapped ladders shouldn't work at all, and it's sad that people are exploiting this ill behavior for their normal Minecraft houses. Everyone forgot how to role play.
Don't get me started on water ladders.
Actually it could be easy to just make it so a "falling" body of water doesn't allow you to swim upward.
Not sure if notch will improve moving water to actually "fill" things...
Like making a 2x2 hole that's 10 blocks deep. You can "fill" it up to the brim with falling water for example but it takes time.
Taking this idea and putting it into lava can work for volcanoes... Maybe have lava spout out from the ground and spew out everywhere?
Personally I prefer the suggestion that ladders have visual extensions that reach halfway up the block above, and halfway down the block below, but leave the ladders unchanged in terms of actual function, so that whether you place them one rung apart or right next to each other, they'll still look connected.

Thoughts?
"Read this because it's awesome!"

Sure they do.
Seriously, try to climb a ladder with a 1 meter gap in it. It's not that hard.
