Which is also false, you can make torches, dye, bonemeal, planks, sticks. sandstone, snow block jackolantern, flint and steel, powered and storange minecarts, buttons, levers, redstone torch, sugar and all the different colored wool blocks.
Hahaha, do you really think that you were the first person to try to refute this point? The keywords are "Functional" and "Alone"
FOREVER DENIED!
Just to play Devil's advocate here. In your suggestion list you have:
Torch arrows: require a torch (requires a workbench to get the coal) and are not functional without a bow (requires a workbench);
Glowstone arrows: as above, requires a bow to be functional;
Portable grill: requires a torch as above, and cobble which requires a pickaxe;
Bow drill: requires bow;
Ore/Coal slabs: require the necessary pick to get them.
Now, with your minitools MOST of these are off the hook, but your arrows are still absolutely useless and so by the above logic should not be included in the original post.
Anyways the results of the polls are looking good - it'd be nice to see a few of these make it in at least. Will you be sending the final results to notch/getsatisfaction/whatever?
Except with these suggestions it would be possible to gather all materials with the mini-versions of tools. The suggestion is to make carrying a workbench around/making a workbench first not be absolutely required, and if you can make tools without a workbench then that is basically already accomplished.
He already mentioned that the minitools get the ore-related items off the hook.
As for the bow-related items, that's still okay. I never said EVERY item in this list needed to usable before creating a workbench. This is the Extended 2x2 crafting grid, not the "make the workbench not as important" thread. The majority of these idea can be done without the workbench being used at all, but even those that do need the workbench at some level are still extending the recipes of the 2x2 crafting grid in order to give the player more options.
wow dude if your going to advertise the idea of a mod without actualty creating it why not put the term idea because i came here hoping to download a satche; mod to get abunch of random words and no mod

I'm not. And how am I the perv? You were the one telling me to "suck your ****" and that I "couldn't get some."
THERE IS NO MOD. THIS IS IN THE SUGGESTIONS FORUM. PEOPLE HAVE ASKED THAT QUESTION EVERY FEW PAGES. I AM GETTING ANNOYED BY THIS. THE HUMAN RACE IS GOING INTO DECLINE.
I like pretty much every thing in this thread, but not that Small Ore Block became Slabs.
it is a more cost effective method to building.
But they are only slabs, and since you can't stack them like normal blocks, you would only save ONE piece of materiel. Considering these are intended for BUILDING, rather than storage, saving a single piece of materiel won't help much.
I also don't like Hatchets becuase the chance of getting saplings would have to be ridicously high to be able to make enough sticks/wood to make one before the first nightfall. That would allow players to clear out a wide swath of land, then put tons of easily gotten saplings everywhere, making a huge tree farm, yet only having to cut down 20-30 trees to get the saplings for it instead of 60.

This is in SUGGESTIONS. Grey, I think you should add some really big colored text in the first post explaining that this is not a mod.

I... hate... green...
Ah well.
...
About the sapling front... You're right...
Although there is the fact that saplings have more uses...
UPDATE: It turns out the Sponge texture looks perfect for Glowstone sand, and since it's not doing anything useful anymore, I might as well make use of it. Also finished Multicolor Directional Markers

a 50% sapling drop rate seems to be high enough to get up to speed within a single tree. As for the ability to farm trees easily, why not? All it means is you skip an iteration or two of growing trees and cutting them down. With the bonemeal option it becomes even less of an issue, since you can just grow trees instantly.
And as has been mentioned, the ability to use saplings to craft sticks, topiary blocks, and leaf blocks is going to give people another purpose to put saplings towards so it's just as likely that they'll keep about the same rate of tree planting, and put excess saplings towards crafting sticks or topiary blocks.
And yeah, i saw that Video already, elmach. There was another video of a person with a boomerang that had almost the exact same features as what the version from this thread has. At the very least it shows a good base possibility for the concept to work. I may have to look into contacting these people to see if they'll let me play around with their code if I can't get it done without.
Excellent choice using the dyes for the markers. Adds more variety, and makes dyes more than a single use item. I also find the idea more attractive now, though I personally might make it slightly less flexible, and allow that only dyes make markers, rather than flowers themselves - in the same way you can't dye cloth directly from the raw ingredients. Just personal taste though.
Oh, and I love the change to slabs rather than blocks.
*sighs * you need to pay more attention. It specifically states that the flowers and bones can still be crafted into the markers as well, but they only craft into the same markers that their respective dyes craft into and don't give any bonuses to amount crafted, so it's not cost effective.

Good to see My Idea for the ore slabs made it in
Thanks for reminding me, I do want to give due credit for that.
Simplest method would probably be to have them work as an overlay, much like how redstone dust works, in which case they'd probably end up looking exactly like they do in the inventory. most likely though, they'd have a simple 3d model like what Signs do, either way, they'll likely be the same, or close to what they look like in the inventory.
