Not discouraged at all. Can't expect to be popular and not have to deal with a few lazy/unobservant people.

I really like this idea too!
But why no hand axe? [] [] [] [] []
if u red it u would see a hatchet
and "if u red it u would see" that his question was asked BEFORE I had added Hatchets to the list.
The original Extended 2x2 Crafting Grid suggestion started out with Daggers, Trowels, Hand Picks, Direction Markers, and Slings. Every other item was added later
Right-Click: Engrave letters/numbers/symbols on block faces or change an engraving, costs 1 use.
Left-Click: Turn Ice and Glass, possibly also Glowstone and Stone into resource blocks, costs 2 uses per block.
The recipe for a chisel could be 1 stick over 1 material, and chisels could be made of all the normal tool materials, with the same durability as other tools of the same material. The primary purpose of this tool would be to engrave block faces with 1 glyph (letter, number, or symbol) for decorative purposes, and this function would be used with a right-click, in the same way a hoe is used for tilling. A box would open to allow you to enter or choose a glyph, and when you confirm, that glyph would be attached to the face in the same manner as a ladder or torch.
Chisels could, however, serve a secondary purpose for gathering resources which currently either cannot be collected at all or which must be crafted, namely Ice, Glass, and Glowstone-- and perhaps also (smooth) Stone. As a secondary function, this might halve the number of uses which the chisel would get, but when used on appropriate blocks, the chisel will cause them to break into a resource block instead of shattering into nothing or an alternate resource. Much as different materials are required to mine select resources, the chisel, if given this function, could be tiered, perhaps a wooden chisel could gather only Ice, a stone chisel would be allow Ice and Glass (and Stone, if included), and an iron or diamond chisel could gather any chiseled resources (ie: Iron or Diamond would be required to gather Glowstone from the Nether). Perhaps it could even be set so only a diamond chisel is suited to claiming Glowstone, and the only benefit of iron is lasting longer?
Of course, claiming these resource blocks should not be quick, and I propose that the chisel, when used to gather fragile blocks, could actually be slower than breaking them by hand -- after all, you are trying to carefully remove them, not simply to break them down. A Diamond Chisel would work at the highest speed, perhaps taking only twice as long as breaking the material by hand, with perhaps a 10% increase in length to gather materials with each lower grade?
Other thoughts I've had towards balancing this idea might be to use two material blocks (though this would remove it from the 2x2 grid) per chisel or to perhaps even make the chisel only produce a chance (higher for ice and glass, lower for glowstone) to safely turn the chiseled material into a resource block.
ow ow!!!
how about flint lock pistels and musket rifels that use thos stone bullet thingys as ammo!
and they loose durabilaty due to the metal barrels melting from heat.
and perks like muskets take less longer to lode than flint lock pistels and better range.but flint lock pistels dont need powder and are easyer to make.
there may be miner holes but it would make a good addition to peaple who cannot get string :wink.gif:
hope u injoy it!!!

I have a small idea that could be added to this. I saw something about a mud patch, so here's my little take on the recipe for it. = Water Bucket
[]
[] = (mud bucket)
Right clicking with this would put down a mud patch, if it is stood in for more than 3 seconds, it will restore 1 heart, and empty your bucket, of course.
wats the piont in massave technologacal advance ment with out basic guns.
alto grenades, tanks, proper rifels, rocket lounchers and veacles would be very gay.
how about also adding controlable ridable horses too?
Even the simplest gun should require more material and more detail than what works for the 2x2 crafting grid. If you want to post about guns, please search for and post in the appropriate threads. Same thing for horses. Also, perhaps you're not a native english speaker, but you really do need to brush up, it looks like you're not putting any thought at all into your posts, so it's very hard to give them any serious consideration.

Please tell me if this is better off in its own thread, but I have a proposal for a 2x2 tool that could be used: Chisels
Right-Click: Engrave letters/numbers/symbols on block faces or change an engraving, costs 1 use.
Left-Click: Turn Ice and Glass, possibly also Glowstone and Stone into resource blocks, costs 2 uses per block.
It probably would be better off in its own thread for the moment. Just as a sidenote, it should probably do the same damage as a shovel when used in combat. The way to use its different abilities is also good, since it basically works the same way as a hoe (using pre-existing logic is always a good idea for making it feasible)
The engraving sounds interesting, and it could basically be a decal, just like Redstone is, but with letters of the alphabet and other characters instead of the dust pattern.
PROBLEM: Even Redstone dust technically takes up an entire block. If your chiseled letters worked the same way, then either the chiseled letter would block any other block from being placed in that spot, or placing a block would revert the letter that had been chiseled, neither of which make sense.
Well, do you want to do wood slabs through the same style of recipe that ore slabs are made from? In that case, the recipe would go like this:
But that creates a workbench. Alternately you could try the same recipe that Stone Slabs use:
But that creates Wooden Pressure Plates.
I suppose you could make them out of Log blocks, but that's seriously material inefficient. Even then I'd be more likely to go with for creating wood slabs.
The bow drill is kinda op or too much for minecraft
How is the bowdrill overpowered? it takes 5 seconds to start a fire, and uses up a piece of paper each time. Sure, reeds/sugarcane isn't that hard to grow, but you still need to cart it around with you. Basically, in order to get the same number of uses as a Flint and steel, you need to waste 1 extra inventory space. 1 bowdrill + 64 paper(2 inventory) has one fewer use than Flint and steel alone(1 inventory) 1 bowdrill and 2 stacks of 64 paper(3 inventory) has 2 fewer uses than 2 Flint and steel(2 inventory) etc.

only flint lock pistil is 2x2, seeing as the creator of this topic sayes full sheild then why not a bigger gun?
(f.y.i i cant get string and muskets are good cuz we have gunpowder, metal, flint and bullets then why not make a recipy for it?

Full shield is not part of the 2x2 grid crafting, obviously. The reason its description is included is because the recipe for the small shields, as well as the ability and use of the shields are all based off of the existence and design of the 3x3 full shield version.

the musket was based off the flint lock pistel.
as was the full sheild was based of its smaller counterpart

Yes, but my point is that I would barely agree with a pistol being allowable on a 3x3 crafting grid, in terms of balancing cost of materials and ease to produce vs effectiveness and having any point in using at all it just doesn't work. Heck, I don't even agree with guns being implemented at all.
Thanks for the feedback, and I did make my own thread for my Chisel/Engraving suggestion. I love the majority of ideas you have here, too, and I really hope Notch will add at least some of them to the game.
