1. Active and overall stamina.
Stamina is a small bar right above your health bar. When you use stamina-based skills such as sprint, jump or arrow charge, the stamina bar decreases, and quickly reverts to it's base value when you stop doing such skills. This is what I call Active stamina. As you explore, mine and use stamina-based skills, you notice that maximum size of stamina bar decreases with time. This is Overall stamina. The less overall stamina is, the less active stamina you have, which means less distance for sprint, less number of charged arrows to shoot etc.
Time for active stamina to revert to the base value is always the same, which means the less overall stamina you have, the longer active stamina will recharge.
For example, we shooting charged arrows until stamina bar ends. The stamina doesn't regenerate. With full overall stamina we'll shoot out 10 charged arrows per 20 seconds, and with only 10% - 1 per 20 secs.
2. Restoring overall stamina.
Eating and sleeping, obviously.
[MEDIUM AND HARD]But the effect is not instant. The food must get digested, which takes from a few seconds to a couple of minutes, depends on it's type. For example, cookies give you a quick but small boost, while pork digests slowly, increasing your stamina little by little all the time it's inside. Sleeping digests all your food instantly, giving full effect.
Also drinking water gives a 10% temporary buff, that will disaperrar after some time. Drinking water will exceed stamina, raising max to 110%
3. Usage of overall stamina.
The speed of decreasing of overall stamina depends on multiple factors - biome, depth, temperature, air pressure, air purity, activity. Overall stamina will reduce much faster when mining deep underground or near lava, where it's much hotter. Jumping above the clouds also uses up stamina due to low pressure and little oxygen concentration. Extreme biomes such as arctic and deserts will eat up stamina.
4. Second Breath.
When overall stamina reaches zero, Steve gets a 5% stamina boost to get to home. If stamina reaches zero again, it's game over. After sleeping, Steve retains used up Second Breath.
[CONCEPT] Having adrenaline injectors in inventory will make Steve to survive longer. After using up natural Second Breath, Steve auto-injects an adrenaline dose to re-vitalize. Kinda artifical second breath. Effect is the same as of natural's. Empty injectors can be refilled. Also adrenaline can be used to get temp stamina, like water, rising maximum to incredible 125%. Injection buff replaces water buff, but water buff don't apply if adrenaline buff is active.
IRL adrenaline is obtained from pig's pancreas, so porkchop might take place in reciepe.
Dual wield/quick draw
Sometimes in deep caves you fall in ambush, having no time to react and draw weapon. Quick draw might fix this.
On pressing E (I'm from that generation of minecrafters that accustomed to use I for inventory) Steve takes items in his left and right hand, and can use them by pressing respective mouse buttons Call of Juarez style(This can be changed in options).
This can be done by giving Steve 4 more inventory slots. 2 by 2, to be exact. 2 regions having 2 slots each for left and right item. Item can be put in the slot with left or right click. Depending on click, the way to use this item will be changed - if the item was put there with the left mouse click, it will be used with primary use, else secondary. Example: If you put a stack of torches with the left click, you'll be hitting with them. With right - putting.
Either Notch makes these slots from the beginning, or player will have to make them accessible, for example by crafting [Holster belt] for pants slot.
Spleef block/Spleef generaor/Spleef armor.
In the days of Creative, Spleef had an important place in minecrafter's life. Check MinecraftWiki page for more info. With coming of survival, spleef started to fade out. This must be prevented.
I'm a hardcore spleef fan. Running bukkit server with a spleef mod. I hate spleef being a standalone plugin.
I offer such idea - spleef blocks made by spleef generators.
Spleef blocks are insta-breakable blocks that can be created only by spleef generators. They are not affected by gravity, drop nothing.
Spleef generators are special blocks that can't be mined or crafted, can only be created by OPs using /give command. They act like pistons - when placed, they obtain orientation, where they will spawn blocks. Placing redstone current under/near them will make them to spawn blocks. Right clicking them will open a chest-like window with single slot where a dye can be put to colour output blocks. If no dye is used, SG will spawn white block. If glass is used, a transparent glass-like block will be produced. If bone meal is used, SG will produce a special block, which will destroy all adjacent blocks of the same type if fire or redstone current is applied. Use this to make levels with reducing floor area.
Using spleef generators and pistons you can make self-regenerating arenas.
To prevent damage during spleef matches players should create a set of wool armor. The colour for this armor is set depending the used wool's colour. The set contains 3 pieces:
[SPLEEF HELM] - used as team headwear.
[SPLEEF VEST] - used to guard player from any damage dealt by another player wearing spleef vest. If attacker has another/no vest, the damage is dealt. If attacker wears spleef vest, and you wear another/no vest, the damage is dealt.
[SPLEEF BOOTS] - used to guard player against fall damage. Works only on spleef blocks and water. Also prevents sprint to be used.
I'm aware of upcoming creative mode update. But I want spleef to be accessible in survival mode.
