I would like to request the addition of large naval vessels. The current boat is rather small and easily destroyed while also lacking storage. With the addition of the map Naval exploration could be quite fun, and building large ships to travel the world and collect things and with update 18 adding villages the ability to bombard those villages would be quite enjoyable as well, which why I also would like to see cannons which can be placed on your ship or a port wall etc.
To build these ships could require a lot of wood and could be built in sections then put together in the tool bench or there could be an added workshop with more crafting slots.
A major problem would be that, as of now, Minecraft's "Oceans" are very shallow and usually very small, and therefore there isn't much of a point to have large sea voyage ships that couldn't really go anywhere. IF Minecraft adds large oceans then this would be a very good idea for the game, but until then I doubt it would get added.
I've considered this, and I'm going to try my best to create ships in Minecraft.
My newly-formed mod team (only one other person xP) has agreed to create textures and the model.
I will be doing all the programming :sad.gif: lol.
Anyways, it WILL have the Minecraft look-and-feel. It will use very similar textures as well. Like, yakno, the furnace-ish texture. And the wood texture, and such.
It would be awesome if some locations could be classified as "land" zones and others classified as "water" zones.
Land zones would follow the current world generation scheme. There's water, just not lots of it. Max elevation being X (a number around 120). Max water depth being Y (Somewhere around 50). (I don't know the values that the game actually uses)
Water zones would pretty much flip this around. Max elevation would be 128-Y (Around 78). Max water depth would be 128-X (Around 8). This would mean that you get plenty of deep ocean with some small islands here and there.
Any borders between Land and Water zones would be considered "ShoreLine" zone. It is just the crossover between the two zones.
That is a regular world. Now imagine that all the land on there became water and all the water became land.

Made from a solid block of 3x3 wood or something?
Well that would make sense now wouldn't it?
Yar har feedle dee dee, you are a a pirate!
God, I love that song...
BBCode Render failed due to reaching MaxNestingDepth(80) for Tag: spoiler
do a search for it. the vehicles suggested in it are VERY balanced and well thought out. The are designed to only be practical and useful in SMP.
I reckon it would be an awesome idea but the only prodlem is minecraft only has small shallow rivers not wide open seas

I disagree. My adventure map has yet to extend onto land from the ocean, it's HUGE, and all natural. Can't even see ANY land from some parts.
