There should be currency. Collect money from defeating monsters or selling items to a shop. Speaking of shops that would be nice to have save the troubles breaking trees to get stacks of planks. Epically if you are trying to create a castle that requires 120 stacks. But shops can't have rare items like Obsidian, diamond, etc.
How about funding a shop to upgrade it. Example: Level 1 sells Wood, Cobble Stone and Coal. Level 2 now includes A furnace, iron, differently designed beds. And the shop becomes bigger. (Upgrading should include hiring workers to build a house in a quality depending how much you pay.)
A weapon/armor dealer. He/she can upgrade a weapons speed, power, acceracy to a limited max amount. Armor is almost the same expect you upgrade defense.
Also there should be village only items. Like special armor/weapons/blocks/etc.
How about attacking other NPC villages ,and taking their items and territory?
What do you think of those ideas? Are they bad, good, no good for Minecraft?
NO PLEASE NOTCH NO. Then the game would become more about helping thew town grow and not yourself, likes its supposed to be. Its called SURVIVAL for a reason. I am against the villages completely actually

I think Villages is only going to be added in Adventure mode from what I read.
I think the only thing villages should have is quests, if it is a friendly village, the leader will occasionally have a quest for you, like, we need 4 diamonds within 2 minecraft days, or, there is a gang of skeletons in our mine/building take care of them.
I do not give a flying rat's ass if your suggestion has a word different and that's what makes it unique. Your suggestion is NOT unique and can fit tidily into another pre-existing thread.
As a matter of fact, I did a search for "NPC Village" and I was assaulted with this:
Your search for the term npc village returned 140 results
Tell me. Is your idea more original than 140 other suggestions, especially when it's compared to something like "currency?"

This is just damn lazy and needs to be locked for being redundant.
