I think creepers should Hide in the daylight.
Not necessarily burn up like skeletons or zombies but they should hide in caves or dark places.
Or make them an underground only Mob. they spawn in the dark but only under a certain depth below water, maybe around the Gold layer.
This helps give people a fighting chance against them.
Personally I find skeletons more deadly with their bows.
Other options for Gunpowder should come from the nether maybe lightstone and Coal.
I think it would be a very wise decision to do away with the creeper. Not only does he look rather boring and bad-design-sketchy, but the dynamic of a random exploding baddie is not only moronic in concept, but it has a tendency to spackle our maps with craters over time. And once survival goes multiplayer, it's not going to be very fun to see that users had attracted a whole host of unwanted explosions all over the game. There needs to be a more coherent way of obtaining gunpowder, and there need to be more interesting baddies than the creeper. It would be tolerable if it was a rare, yet powerful, suicide exploding baddie, with a more interesting looking design, but as of now it is a nuisance to our creations, and takes away a good deal of fun from the game.
Much love <3
Im assuming that the reason you put this here is because you were playing, creeper killed you, you rage quit.
Just go play on peacefull and stop complaining all over the forums. We all die now and then.
Also dieing is part of the game. If you can't handle the heat don't play the game.

Just because the sun is up doesn't mean the game should be totally safe. Creepers are presently the only mob that provides any danger in the daylight unless you're into antagonising spiders. And you realize that underground, they're much more dangerous, since you don't have room to maneuver, and generally they're coming out of the pitch black at you. I'm sure anyone cave-diving has at least one creeper-death story, or an "I retreated into a pit of lava" story. Peoples' "fighting chance" is aboveground, where they can actually see the creeper coming for them, and can escape or gain a better position.
Instead of nerfing the creeper, the playerbase should buff their skills. To me it's not a question of an overly strong monster but a question of weak survival kung-fu.

Every time I come to these forums, I think more and more that I'm the only person who plays Minecraft normally.

Agreed, creepers creep to keep us on our toes during the day to to make sure we will live through the nights by training us to always be AWARE OF THE SURROUNDINGS!!!
I do agree, sort of. a creeper shoulnt drop gunpowder, but it should explode, mabey with fire instead of just force. gunpowder could be obtained by a grinder of some sort. creepers should drop bones, as well as skeletons and zombies so an arrow wolud be more efficient, and to make better armor.
Here's a concept. Forget nerfing the creeper and let's make it HARDER instead. Creepers are supposed to hide in waiting until they have a line of sight and then they chase you. The idea is that they are scripted to lie in wait nearby until they can get to you. Personally, I think that as soon as you get back inside they should stop hopping right in front of your door and go find another hiding place.
This would A: Make the game harder because you would lose track of them again. And B: make things easier in a sense because they aren't sitting there blocking your exit and waiting to explode if you try to open the door to kill them. Really, this is only suggesting that they do what they're already supposed to do, just do it a little better.

I'm almost 100% positive that this have been suggested before but i'll suggest it again anyways

That would also make the chances of your front door blowing up as well, or other parts of your house for that matter!
I like this.
So basically turn the creeper into a land mine?
It likes to burrow 1 block down to surround itself with grass... Then it lies in wait, and it never moves until it's night time.
So basically:
At night, creepers roam, they still have their usual tactics, but during the day, they burrow 1 block down and camp.

I can't believe this is still going on! lol this is kind of funny. I guess I had better post now.
Don't remove the creeper. It is the only thing that has a chance at killing you inside your house.
It's the minecraft mascot! It's even made it into Call of Duty! someone put a creeper head on their gun!
They are actually trying to say "sssssssss that a pretty good house!" but they get so nervous that they explode!
Just because you get killed by creepers doesn't mean they are overpowered. I rarely get killed by creepers, and that is only when I am deliberately going creeper hunting.
In my opinion, Creepers are fine as they are. They should not be changed beyond perhaps some texture changes, as long as they stay green and emo.
I'm gonna be brutally honest with you all. Malachi has won this round. By arguing with a troll, you have let the troll win. As stated by the rules of the internet.

Malachi is no troll, he simply stated an opinion that creepers should be kicked out of the game and gave decent reasons for it... even though no one really agrees with him; it doesn't make him a troll. So don't be so rude.
On top of all that, this is the suggestions board, this is a suggestion.

Yeah but there is reasonable suggestions and daft suggestions. The creepers is a icon for Minecraft, not zombies, not sheeps, not skeletons....It would be like making mario a baker, would change the whole game.
It may be daft but the OP might not have thought is was originally. Personally I don't agree with the OP at all, I just don't like people calling others trolls, the first post got a Moderator Edit because of it being a troll comment. The OP might not have been a great suggestion, but at least it gave reasons and such. Not like some of the other that post things such as, "Hey let's add tanks to the game so I can blow crap up."
A creeper blew up this thread and you all fail at picking up the pieces. Seriously, I think we all get the idea.
Minecraft + Creeper = Minecraft
Minecraft - Creeper != Minecraft
They aren't some unstoppable force, and if you think they are you have no clue how to play video games. This will definitely be my last bump for this thread and I advise you all do the same. 12 pages and not a single worthwhile point has been made for getting rid of them, and Notch put them in on purpose.

Creppers in multiplayer is the feature Im looking forward to!
Imagine you are exploring the world and manufacturing your house and whatever and there is nasty creeps trying to kill you. Survival would mean you would need to stay out of trouble and day time risk it by going outside to get wood, food and materials for armor.
It adds dimension to the game and excitement!
And what of the griever that herd creepers into peoples homes?
