Okay, a item is already ingame, and only has one use.... a sattle. My suggestion is... PETS ! Yes. Put a sattle on a animal, probably only sheep/piggies/cows... Wait.. maybe spiders too XD they would odviously be hard to ge a sattle on sorta...
But here is the how it would work:
Okay, make a sattle, or find one in a dungeon, whatever, get a darn sattle.
Next, put the sattle on a animal, like you currently do with pigs, but with a different effect:
Animals with a sattle move alot less frequent, and if you are able to put it on a creature that is agressive, it stops being agressive.
Next get notch to add a item called 'Reins' maybe like this? [] [] []
(Ham = Leather)
Now, put the reins on the animal, and now, when you get on the animal you can control its' movement XD
Combine that with barns, with can be made, and some type of bait... ham blocks anyone? XD
And you could potentially make animal ranches, for food, or whatever, chicken coop, cattle slaughter house, pig tranch, or just some nice things to have in a zoo, or in your yard to look nice, and spiders would be a nice way to set up traps for intuders, add some gravel, dirt, and some redstone, and you'll have your own Guard Spider !
Think of the possibilities here, i mean seriously, one i think the only effecient way to kill an animal, besides a diamond word, is a bow, and loads of arrows (which i usually make a bow, then hack about 10 stacks of arrows, eh, i hate arrow making, in pretty much every game a play, and bows are the best way to stay alive in Minecraft...)
So here is a list of possibilities that i know of:
Pork production
Leather Production
Egg farming
Feather grabbing
and... the Epic Guard Spider
Not to meantion, if you let loose a large number of pigs, it would probably probably cause a bit of frsustration, which gives another possible option.
Now that list is short, and still only being new to Minecraft, and seeing how creative it's playerbase is, i am sure you'll find new ways to abuse... i mean use properly and not in anyway associated with maiming you neighbor with a pitfall trap with your... i mean wild, and ones you have to relation to... spiders waiting to eat... i mean greet him very very nicely.
