You know what separates us from those filthy, savage beasts that try to kill us every night when the sun goes down?
What’s that, you say? Weaponry? Crafting? Our well-cropped neckbeards?
What? No. Shut up. The answer – the CORRECT answer – is our fabulous houses. Though, to be fair, to make them fabulous, it does require a lot of crafting. But don’t be too proud of yourselves. It was your second guess, after all.
I’m going to do this in the following manner:
Item Name {item symbol} (additional notes)
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
Then additional comments down here. Alright? Everything clear? No? Then read it again. I can’t do everything for you. Ready now? Then let’s begin.
Hooks { } (creates anywhere between 4-16, not sure yet)

Hooks serve 2 purposes. The first is an alternate fishing pole recipe ( = String):
[] []

And the other use is to be planted on ceiling tiles, i.e. the bottom of a tile. Why the bottom? More on that later.
Chains { } (creates anywhere between 4-16, not sure yet)

Chains can be turned into our long-lost chainmail. Chainmail armor would be shaped as follows:
Chainmail Helm
[] [] [] []
Chainmail Armor
[]
Chainmail Leggings
[] []
Chainmail Boots
[] [] [] [] []
Chains can also be hung from hooks on the ceiling (which I can see as possibly climbable by holding spacebar, like going up a waterfall) which helps with…
Lanterns { }
[] []
Alternative Recipies:
[] []
Lanterns can then be hung from chains or from hook, allowing you to have lights in the middle of a room without unsightly walls in the way.
Three things to note: I don’t really care for the amount of iron I have in the recipe, so suggestions to reduce it are welcome. Second, I read another post that suggested whales be introduced. Early lanterns contained whale fat. Just sayin’, consider whalin’. Third, I figure that hook/chain/lantern interactions might be a total pain to code or whatever, so I can offer this alternative to make a hanging lantern:
Hanging Lantern:
[] []
[] []

…though this method means no variable length chains, which I would prefer.
Let’s play with clay, shall we?
Pot { } ( = Clay)
[] [] []
[] []
[] []
Which can be placed around the house and decorative urns and the like, or they can be used in:
Potted Plants
[] [] []
[] []
[] []
AND
[] [] []
[] []
[] []
Each would yield a different colored plant, red and yellow respectively. When pots are broken, they shatter and leave nothing, like glass. Potted plants, however, will still drop the flower.
More clay!
Plate { }
[] [] []
[] [] []
Plates are useless. Well, unless you use it in:
Breakfast ( = egg)
[] []
[] []
[] []
…which would heal 5 health. The plate would be reuseable, like bowls. Speaking of bowls…
Cereal ( = Bowl, = milk (sorry I had to turn you into milk, Notch))
[] []
[] []
[] []
Alternative recipe:
[] []
[] []
This could heal 2-4 HP, though if the alternate recipe is implemented, it should definitely be more than 3, since it is the same amount of wheat as bread.
Bearskin Rug ( = Cow Skin)
It woud be 3x3 and rest on the ground. Or, if 3x3 doesn’t work too cool, you can have…
Carpet Cube
[] [] []
[]
[]
If bears are ever implemented, their skins would work better than cows. Alternatively, use wool instead of ham. Speaking of wool…
Bed
[] []
Wood-framed Windows
Possibly 2x2? Or change chape as more are added, like Redwire?
Cloth Clothes. I’m not going to draw them out. It is the same as normal armor, but using wool :Sheep:. This will be most useful if/when dye is implemented.
Trap Door
[] [] []
[] [] (<-- chain)
Works with redstone switches or normal switches. Altertatively, collapses when weight is put on it. I can see it being made with other resources besides :wood:, allowing it to match the ground. It would open downwards and be 1x1. Makes a good dungeon, trap, oubliette, or escape route. Ladder optional.
Statue
[] [] []
Can perhaps also be 1x3 or 3x3 worth of materials in the crafting grid. The statues themselves would stand 1x1x2 or 1x1x3, perhaps having several looks, like pictures on walls do.
Gold Doors: Made just like wooden and iron doors, but totally pimp.
Pencil { }
[] []
[] []
[] []
Helps to make:
Map ( = Paper)
The map could work 1 of 3 ways:
1). Records all of the land and can be scrolled through (terrible. I hate this idea, but worth suggesting)
2). Acts as a minimap, showing the area immediately around the player, though I have no idea how this would work.
3). The player can draw on the paper freely, mapping if they wish, though it should probably just be called “pencil and paper” instead and only cost 1 paper.
I also suggest cheese and yogurt being made from milk, though I don’ really know the process behind them, only they yogurt is mainly bacteria and cheese is milk gone bad. What the hell is wrong with humans that we eat this stuff? And why is it so good? They can heal 1.5-2.5 hearts.
Telescope
[] []
[]
Alternative recipes include placing either a Diamond or Mirror in the empty middle space, and/or replacing the Diamond with a Mirror or Glass.
And finally:
Spear
[] []
[] [] [] []
Spears are a strong as an arrow and attack slightly farther than a sword, making them perfect for killing creepers without wasting arrows.
Okay, that’s finally the end of the list. Comments, questions, suggestions, alternate recipes and uses for items, and anything else is appreciated, unless you are going to comment that I should make better use of my time than making lists, in which case I will craft each of these items and forcibly feed them to you one at a time. Or all at once if I am in a bad mood.
Happy mining!
Edits: Fixed a few screwed up pictures. I think that's all of them. Looks better.

My Pathfinder Campaign for the denizens of MCF: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1939035-where-are-we-sandbox-pathfinder-campaign-ooc/
i like the idea of using chains to make chain armor and for some traps...
