Hey guys, this is my suggestion for "Apothecary & Alchemy", first, I Should give you definitions, so you don't get the two mixed up.
Apothecary - Chemistry basicly.
Alchemy - Transmutations of regular metals into preciouse metals, such as gold and silver, giving something to get something.
Alchemy - Workstation
Alchemy will have its own "Workstation", You have redstone in the middle, surrounded by gold (Bars) diagnaly, and has a workbench and a furnace on either side of it.
Ex- You can turn 2 steel bars, into 1 gold bar.
-Game changes
You can no longer get strong weapons and armor just by simply making them, you need to convert metals now. This will make gold more accesible for legit players.
Apothecary - Station
Apothecary will also have a station, consisting of a workbench, 2 bottles, and mortar and pestle.
You can make vials by putting 2 pieces of glass into a furnace. a mortar and pestle is made from clay, by putting them in a "L" formation. Think chess.
The station will have a crafting table in the middle, vials on EITHER side of it,(not diagnal) with a pistol and mortar either side of it diagnaly.
Apothecary - The basics
Medicines and elixers, elixers will be potions basicly, they would restore life by mixing medicines and liquids, You can make medicines from herbs, and mixing them to make more advanced medicnes. The more advanced the herb, the more advanced the medicine. Also, with a vial, you can fill it with any liquid, by right clicking on the liquid, like a bucket.
Apothecary - Advancement
With potions, medicines, and herbs, you could have many combinations to work with, with your apothecary station, you can mix potions with other potions, to create Better tier potions, you can also mix herbs and medicines with the potions, to make other chemicals.
Apothecary - Poisons
Poisons will be in doses, you can put poison on ANY Item, as long as it has a blade or sharp edge of some kind. the damage and affect of the poisons will vary on what kind you use. You can also put it in water, and collec the water with a vial.
If you have any suggestions, constructive crticism, and anything to say about this post on this thread, any troll posts, and/or ignorant ones WILL be ignored.
TL;DR - Look up.
Also, I will edit this thread to make it easier to read.
Why do we need two new benches? We don't. Crafting would do just fine.
Potions and medicines would be to easy to get, the benches have to be a tad difficult to get, also, potions would be overpowerd, unless they didnt have stacks/doses, also, you can just make potions on the go if it took just a workbench, this system encourages preparation.
How about a philosopher's stone to be used in alchemy? That would make it true to alchemy. And it's mortar and pestle, not pistol and mortar.
Unless you're out to kill some damn chickens. In that case, I'd take the pistol and mortar!
...
"Fear not, dear sir, for at this apothecary bench, I shall craft a soothing balm to heal--"
>BANG!<
>KATHOOM!<
>THUD!<
"...Sir? Oh sir? Oh dear."
...
Anyways, I really like the idea of introducing some different benches, so you could get some different results out of the same recipes. It'd also give us a little more to collect in order to have a fully outfitted base.

Heheh, you got me there, I'll fix that, and we COULD use a philsophers stone, I'll see what I can do to the thread.
EDIT: fixed some grammar.
