Aware they've been suggested, I'm going to show you different things they can be used for.
Refer to the key(s) below:

(All dyed Wools = Colors of Dye)
( = Glowstone dust)
( = Redstone Dust)
Titan Missile:
[] []
[] []
[] []
The RL use: Titan missiles are not noticeable in firework shows. Mostly because they make ugly explosions. But they make the fireworks shows noticeable, they're usually used first along with another firework
What it does: Strong noise! Repels even the bravest mobs in a large radius!
Why: I don't like mobs of any circumstance near my home... just fire this and you keep them out for a long while...
Red Flare:
[] []
[] []
[] []
The RL use: To make a red scatter. Commonly used in 4th of July Baragges (Figure out why)
What it does: The most noticeable (Highest lighting Variable) since it's closest to Infer-red (1000 Wl).
Why: Distress signal... Beauty noticed greatly...
Glowstone flare:
[] []
[] []
[] []
The RL use: There's no nether in the Real World...
What it does: Attractive to the eye even brighter than the Red flare.
Why: Attracts neutral mobs! If you need Cows, Pigs, Chickens (Evil Bastards), Sheep during the night... Wuuuut?
Redstone Flare:
[] []
[] []
[] []
The RL Use: Basically an EMP, But there's no redstone substance on Earth.
What it Does: If Notch releases mobs that use redstone circuited machinery (Most likely Skeletons) This firework Decimates any circuit connection for about 2 minutes (Real Time)
Why: Stop machinery from killing you somehow...
Heat Flare:
[] []
[] []
[] []
The RL Use: Although the term "Heat Flare" Is improper for it, it works like a Fire bomb they've used in WWII
What for: Lighting mobs a flame with scattered fireballs or burn parts of a forest for room for buildings.
Why: I think lighting things on fire especially aggressive mobs is absolutely fun and solves a boredom problem.
Why WHEAT?: It's a bunch of flammable plants! Do you want to make things complicated?
why are all of you argueing about post copies and stuff? If you want to do that go do it on a different forum. this isn't that bad of an idea. I like it. But there is one problem, if your house is made of wood, your screwed if you use the heat flare near it. true it is a distance issue and that is up to the user what the affect of their decision is. but you know some idiot will do it right next to his/her house and come complain in the forums about it.
Redstone flare should probably set off nearby Redstone, not disable it. I don't know about you, but I can't think of very many redstone mechanics that require continuous power.

1st of all, thank you, I've said this is a different topic than what they think... people aren't literate and seem not to care...
2nd, yes, but you should realize that setting off RANDOM fireworks, can usually start forest fires... So, be aware you can burn your wooden house...
I was thinking of something similar.
I'm not totally set on the crafting recipe yet, but I've got something that sounds pretty good. = Colored dye
:Iron::Green::Iron:
:Iron::GP::Iron:
:::|:::
The flares would be fired by hand, like a arrows from a bow. When fired, they would fly up to cloud level and then detonate in the color of dye used for crafting. Flares could not only be used for fireworks shows, but could be very very handy for SMP. Imagine that you've gone off with a friend, exploring the area. You wander around for a while before realizing that you're lost! You shoot off a colored flare, which whistles into the atmosphere and then explodes, leaving a bright glow of color for several seconds. You wait for a while, surveying the skies, before you see another flare go off to the east! The color corresponds to your settlement, and now you know which way to go to get back!
It could also be used for splitting players into color groups. They could use flares as a sign of help!
Yeah, we have compasses and maps. Those can be very helpful, but they don't tell you where other players are. If your settlement isn't huge, then it might not even be visible on a map!
And what if your server has multiple settlements? If you want to travel from one to another and you get lost, having flares could really help!
This has already been suggested. In a thread that I made too called Vehiclecraft.
Please search for "vehiclecraft" in teh suggestions forum. it is a vehicle suggestion thread that I made that focuses on making vehicles that are only practical for use in developed multiplayer servers. It also includes several anti-vehicle weapons, one of which being a missile launcher that is almost identical to the ancient Hwacha missile launcher, which fired explosive arrows with a gunpowder or sugar-fueled rocket attached. You can craft these missiles with a dye, and they will explode with that color.
If you knew that it was already suggested, then why did you repost it?
