I've been messing a fair bit with the one feature that could only and finally make me go back to Minecraft - which is custom bloody worlds. Right now, the best preset I've personally come up with is this:
hope this topic grows even more after the rest of the terrain generation features are added! I'm looking forward to having the preview option added before creating.
Totally! I would love that... and i cant wait for the new stuff either...
What is the average load time for a custom worldtype? I have tried three times now to create a custom world and I seem to get stuck on "Building terrain" I started this latest one at 11:25pm my time and it still hasn't loaded.
The only thing I have done on the most recent attempt was half the sea level to 31 (becasue the sliders don't allow me to set it to 32 for some reason), set the lava lakes to 4 and water lakes to 40.
Sometimes it can take hours to load... Just avoid Lava... That just kills it...
This one has pretty awesome mountains Sorry about the lack of pics, I was hunting for a cool survival world and I don't have any mountain climbing gear yet
I found a pretty cool one by randomization and changing a few numbers on the fourth page. It creates layers of floating islands above hilly terrain. Here it is:
OK, so I've been experimenting a lot these last few days, and I finally think I have something pretty nice. Basically, it's a pretty hilly terrain with a lot of hills and mountains, but without looking like amplified. Pretty similar to that smooth hill preset shown earlier. A big difference though is that the actual "overworld" is above the clouds. The water level is at y=149, so the clouds are actually below you, and the water. So if you like digging giant caves, I think this will be a pretty good preset for you . I've changed the levels of most of the ores because of it. I've changed all except for diamond which I feel should be pretty hard to get, so you will have to dig like 150 blocks to find diamonds lol.
You want an ocean with no islands and the classic bottom from clay, dirt and sand? Then you must have this preset. It is simply a river biome world, with the sea level on 90.
Thx for the great presets!Due to The Overwhelming response of "Yes" Replies to adding The best Presets To the Op I will Start working on that right now!
I will be adding my personal favorites, but I would love for your opinion. So just reply to this post with your favorite presets and if i do not have them yet i will add them! Thx!

I was aiming for floating islands. Might have overdone it just a bit:NASA computer recommended. Though I'm not sure how it will look on other seeds, though I'd imagine not that different.
I may have underdone it XDThis one does not take too many resources to run but the forum removes a word it recognizes from lapis spread and lapis size which would cause empty oceans if not fixed
(Please note: I cranked up the dungeon and ore spawns because I thought it would be amusing, those who want to play this seriously may want to edit those!)
The result was an overall very hilly world with a lot of water (maxed out the size of rivers), where dramatic features like big overhangs, floating islands and mountains close to y:200 are common, but without sacrificing lowlands or playability. The terrain has more of a gradual slope down to ocean level (which I didn't alter, because I chose this seed due to a water-level village I found earlier) so the 'extreme' stuff tends to look more organically placed in the environment IMO. Makes a lot of nice watery caves and repeating terraces too.

Go here to see what most of the advanced settings do. I didn't make the page at all, just found it. If you already went and looked at it, good for you.
However, I hate oceans. I toyed around in drought preset and changed the depth size from 8.5 to 25 which turned all the gravel/stone in ocean pits into grass, which looked neat. The problem though it that changing that also scales things taller I believe. My question is, do you guys know of a way that I could keep those smooth hills seen in the preset above, but somehow flatten out the terrain in oceans or remove oceans altogether? I'd like to keep rivers if possible, but oceans need to go.
Pretty sure all you need to do is change the base-size to around 10 and you'll do away with most the oceans. Still plenty of rivers, but when I started TPing around, I found a few places that registered as ocean or even deep-ocean until the generator caught up - and then the worst I saw was a shallow lake that you could see across - which still registered as part of a land-boime.
You can use an NBT editor like NBTExplorer to change this string in an existing world, so that new chunks generated follow a different method. For perfectionist results, you can even use something like MCEdit to delete chunks to get exactly the region you want one way or another.
I've tested it a little (made a normal world with the standard values, and then switched over to 'Wacky Mountains'), and it's a cool way to get very varied landmarks into one map. I might post a world with several various presets after I've played with this more...
EDIT:
Huh... Not seeing an option to delete or merge my own posts... If a mod cares to do so, sorry for the inconvenience.
I wanted to make a super tall world with the ocean level at y=15 but it seems all oceans and stuff are filled with gravel and it looks terrible because there are giant gravel pits everywhere. I even changed the levels of gravel to not spawn under y=50, but it made no change at all .
I really hope they allow us to customize the terrain per biome. Since that would fill in a TON of pages, maybe they could have another "Customize Biomes" button?

I'll keep working at it. Its not ideal but it helps. Right now I have tried increasing the base depth scale higher, but for some reason the smoothing that affects all the other biomes doesn't seem to affect the transitional slope into deep oceans, meaning that even if you removed the water there were still huge gaping pits and steep cliffs leading into them, unlike the rest of the biomes.
Hey guys, I think this new feature is awesome, but could you tell me if there is a way to see/modify the settings once the map is created?
Cause I've started a new game, had an awesome experience but messed up the diamond rarity and I found almost none (they are rarer than by default since I've enabled them on every layer, so I'd like to decrease their rarity a bit. Thanks in advance !
Massive
Slightly bulkier and way less volatile than Caver's Delight, biomes are the only non-massive ones here.
That would've been an overkill.
Here there's a bite of the Mesa biome:
I didn't believe it when I saw how oceans here were like:
Turns out, epic terrain isn't any hard to find in this preset:
Incidentally, I got so inspired I built an airships' lighthouse in half an hour:
One last thing - to those wondering: it's totally playable, no joke.
Totally! I would love that... and i cant wait for the new stuff either...

Cool!
Lol... Thats just plain cool!

Literally? Where do you live; the 911 operator needs to know where to send the ambulance.
