This is starting to look more like the old terrain a few members have been yearning for.
I decided for fun to use the random settings to make randomized worlds. Some settings I kept constant, such as keeping all structures spawning.
Note: Some worlds will be laggy in survival mode to begin with but if you move away from the area you spawned in there's a good chance the lag may ease up.
Seeds are listed nest to the world number.

World 1 3857959501392801159
The spawn is in an ocean biome and the sea level is around 80 (I'm never sure how to measure it with the head and feet height).
The plateaus are at around level 250. Travelled North to find mainland and see what it looked like. It was taking too long so I use the teleport feature. For a moment the biome said savanna plateaus but when the terrain loaded it changed to deep ocean. I wonder if this world is bugged? Anyway it's taking too long so I'll leave the preset values in case anyone else wants to take a look at it.
This one looks a bit more ordinary. The spawn is in a forest biome and the sea level is around 56.
With the water generating lower than normal it would appear there is a lot of grassless dirt. The suroounding grass is beginning to spread onto the bare ground.
I Think it might suit players who want something a bit more varied and exotic without going to extremes like World 1.
Very buggy-looking terrain. Still interesting, I want to know what the mainland looks like. However everywhere I teleport the biome changes from a mainland one to an ocean one.

I've had fun with this world:
What I did with this world was really generate 255 of them, each at a different sea level while keeping everything else the same. You can view what the effects are of doing so if so inclined.

This is a preset that is close to the Beta terrain generator, it has full height variation across all biomes, and many of the landmarks look similar to the Beta landmarks in the seeds I've tested.
These are comparison screenshots of the seed "Glacier", on both Beta 1.7.3, and 14w18b with the Neo-Beta preset, showing the similarities.

A really nice floating island I found, I wouldn't mind setting up a base here.
Creeper Island!
For some reason this picture reminds me of a Goa'uld mothership from Stargate SG-1 landing.
At the bottom of a deep sea (Y: 66), staring up at the surface (at Y: 96).
The deepest sea I've seen with this preset reached a depth of Y: 59, but seas that deep are rare.
Standing in a savanna at sea level (Y: 96 in this preset), looking up at the mountains.
Standing at the top of a "Deep Ocean" mountain range, at Y: 241, near max height.
The tallest mountain I've seen with this preset reached a height of 251.
Even in Super-Beta, there are nice flat areas for you to build on, if you look hard enough.
Very high mountain top plateau at around Y: 220.
A "Mushroom Island", seems more like a mushroom mountain if you ask me.
It's a slideshow of screen-caps, not the water-level rising in-game.
If you want to mess with multiple presets in the same world, you can do so with a tool like NBTExplorer - the entire preset is saved as a string, so you can just hop in and paste in a new one - move to some unexplored chunks, and they'll generate by the new rules. You'll get visible chunk boundaries, most likely, but it's still pretty sweet.
I have a new site that I am working on, currently we don't have it so you can submit your own presets, but if you would like to have them put up you can email them to me [email protected].

Hey, that is nice! That calculator seems like a very easy to use interface for building presets. Have you considered adding a Reset button to each section (Basic, Ore, Advanced) so the whole page doesn't have to be reset at once? A Load function to read from an existing preset string might be useful too.

Hello Everyone... I have been trying all day to make a world that has nothing but smooth, rolling, hills... I cant figure it out... any ideas on how to acomplish smooth terrain?
I have a new site that I am working on, currently we don't have it so you can submit your own presets, but if you would like to have them put up you can email them to me [email protected].
If anyone can figure out how to make a world that consists of large continents separated by huge oceans, please share
I'll be tinkering with the settings myself, but if someone else manages to, then less work for me haha. Not even sure if its possible but might as well try.
Well, I got a lava ocean. I wasn't paying much attention...hit "randomize", changed nothing, and spawned at the bottom of an all-ocean world with lava at y=84. Thrilling!
AWESOME! Love the site already, its so useful. I can't wait for the ability to submit my own presets!I already bookmarked the site.

You might start by setting Main Noise Scale X and Main Noise Scale Z to 1000, and setting biome-size down to 1. I like the results without changing anything else, but you may want to bump the water-level if you're of the "those are great lakes, not oceans" crowd.
I like the 2nd one a lot on this one
