Holy Crap... *delete world delete world delete world* New world: Epic, Seed: Professor Layton ZOMG heaven! @_@ to much goodeness *72 hours of straight minecraft* -_-zzz one more block.....
I was heartbroken when I discovered that the 1.9 generator is significantly different. Instead of the village at 300, 300; It's an ocean. I really liked that village and I wanted villagers to live there :C
Fell in love with this seed the minute I saw it. Thanks to the OP and the original finder of the PL seed. I had been using the Glacier seed to build a mob grinder out of the tall mountain right next to the spawn but decided to cut it out and paste it right in the middle of two of the villages on PL. You can see both villages from the complex.
Work still to be done includes 2 more ports in the other villages, revamping all three villages, a mineshaft station at the nearby crevice 202x/241z, building a real ship/frigate, softening up the mountain that I hacked when I used MCedit (noop!), third floor on my complex, fixing the mushroom farm in the mountain and watering down the swamp at 61x/133z.
The ores are in the bottom of the crevice and started from having some gold right next to a clump of iron and spiraled out from there. The first picture includes three gold clumps and one diamond in the mix. The last picture is an under water chasm just outside my harbor.
I made this account just so I could add this to the Professor Layton awesomeness. I made my little base house, and the first thing I usually do is a staircase to the center of the earth. Well, I was going down, had to dodge a freaking HUGE cave/mineshaft, and FINALLY made my way here. Two things of note. Running water + running lava. And there's not one, but TWO of these obsidian sources in here! Now I just have to find some diamonds...
Ok, after further investigation, that place I took a picture of is HUGE! I made a new map in creative mode to double check that it's not a fluke. It's a huge underground ravine with a monster spawner at one end in an abandoned mineshaft... I wasn't able to see what type it was since I was in creative and accidentally destroyed it before it spawned anything. Also, there are actually 3 obsidian sources down there, with more connected to that underground ravine. This has officially become my new favorite world... now..where are those diamonds?! I need to mine me some obsidian!
Not sure what you found aerowolf82, the picasa link did not work (but I'm sure it's cool based simply on the seed)
I caught a glimpse of this last night thanks to a x-ray type glitch that showed a strange looking lava flow that begged for further investigation. Went over, dug straight down and a little over and ran into a chasm filled with lava on the bottom. This really cries out for a video to get the full scope of its size across. Coords on the screenie.

The two pumpkins at 228/72/543 seem like they are now closer to my house than when I first saw them and I thought they where facing the other way...possessed pumpkins? There is a patch of 16 at -447/78/648.
While searching for more pumpkins I found another abandoned mine shaft after a brief journey in a new ravine at 17/62/616. Haven't explored the shaft too much but did run into double mini-spider spawners in the -6/41/669 area and a dungeon at -16/55/630.
Dropped down a ravine and found 6 diamonds with no digging at 30/15/586 and some melon seeds at -329/33/777 in a surface shaft/ravine at -423/72/732.

You can say that again..

The coords are on the screen grab, just another thing that makes Professor Layton so cool.
Also, I am using this texture pack.

That looks pretty awesome. Both my underground chasm and your lava flow needs a video to properly show them. I fixed the link, BTW.
