This castle builds itself with the use of efficient cobblestone generators. The ground above the machine is entirely normal and looks as though there is absolutely nothing there but regular grass. When the start lever is pulled, the castle emerges slowly from the ground. It takes around two minutes to fully build. (The middle of the video was sped up a bit to avoid making it too boring.) Another interesting detail I added were battlements on the top of the building to make its architecture more interesting. Enjoy.
It's fine now. I was trying to embed the video, but every time I insert the media tag, the site essentially breaks the link for some reason. I'll just leave it as is.
Cool idea... but, all I see is a tower, you built the doorframe (don't care about the door but the frame itself), no roof, flooring, just stacks of cobble with dirt ontop to resemble a tower.
Things like this can easily be created with pistons on pistons, redstone and most importantly, repeaters.
2/10
Jeez...only a 2? I know that it's possible to expand on what I've built, but be realistic...The circuitry was incredibly difficult to cram into such a small formation of pistons. I know that the door could use some work, but I want a door to be there, not a substitution. Making tileable floors and removing all the grass on the ground would be impossible, considering that the entire machine is JUST under the ground. Any other additions, like a ceiling or extra, fancier add-ons would take away the point of the whole thing...keeping it totally hidden. What in God's name would you name a 10/10? ._.
I can't see any way to make it better while keeping it completely concealed, except it could maybe be faster (A maximum theoretical speed would have a separate generator for each column, but I'm not sure that could fit).
There also might be a way to make it automatically include a door, but I'm not sure and it would definitely involve a lot more redstone. I don't think regular doors are pushable, but one made out of two fence gates stacked might be possible.

Don't worry about him, he's really stingy with redstone machinery (eg it MUST have redstone involved or it doesn't belong in this forum).
Also, it's probably because there existed even more elaborate self-building castles, though they were not completely hidden. But good job, nonetheless.

Being difficult to "cram all the redstone there" doesn't make it better, it's still pretty simple and over done.
All you did to get that last "tower" effect was putting the pistons like this:
Piston:
Dirt:
And then you wired it all up to a clock and made a piston push cobblestone from a cobblestone generator into the pistons.
You could hook up a counter to the production so that once your tower generator gets to a certain number of stone produced, it pushes out fence gates to replace the next two stone. You now have a door. You can have pistons in the middle that push up sand, thus making the roof out of glass and the floor out of sand. All of this would give you an 8/10 in my book. If you were a genius, you could also push out the sand floor and replace it with some type of flooring. That would amaze people. That would be 11/10. This...4/10.
Okay, seriously guys? While your opinions are justified, why are you all giving him a rating? He never asked for one. I don't even see any other threads where people are given ratings (unless they explicitly requested it).

I did it so that he'd see a bunch of people posting ratings and get incredibly confused xD
Well...It's not confusing, really. It's just that I'm a bit surprised that this is getting ratings that are so low ._. Anyway, since most of you seem to want me to improve this...and I have pretty much no other new ideas, I have a few plans for improvement here. Expect a new thread with a better version of this soon. I think I can implement flooring and possibly some more extra features. The ceiling probably won't happen because it would be near impossible to tile pistons under the floor with such limited space.
Some people, the people who go real nuts over redstone, tend to become a bit snobbish on the subject. And I'm sure they know it! So don't mind this ratings gibberish.
What you have may not be exceptionally original, but the only way to get better is to practice. So nice job.

Thanks! I'm actually not all that bad with redstone. It's just really hard to make anything anymore where people don't hammer you for it not being totally original. I do have another idea, though.....
Like you probable already know this kind of stuff has been done plenty of times before. Make this an actual castle like you advertised. At least the walls anyway because a proper castle would be hard as hell. Just make it so that theres 4 of those towers and long lines where the walls go. Also maybe hook it up to smoothstone generators instead of cobble because smoothstone is much nicer to look at with the default texture pack. Maybe hook something up where when you first activate it the grass where the tower is, is pulled away by pistons. Then you could have the floor come up as well. Anyway good job on what you have so far.

My signature sucks, I got to change it.
Maybe tomorow.
