I feel really no0by asking for help on such a simple redstone piece, but can anyone figure out how to wire up a keypad with the buttons placed as shown in the screenshot? I would prefer to have no redstone underneath the bottom digit (the block the redstone torch is on), but if it's the only way to do it I can live with it. Any redstone in plain view in the front however isn't acceptable, if it was I wouldn't need this post. If you need any clarification, feel free to ask. Thanks, sorry again for the no0b redstone question

Command blocks are out of the question, thanks for asking though. I'm fine with sticky pistons, although now that you mention it a solution without them would obviously be optimum. But that's not what I asked for so I can't complain. For some reason I can't see the images you've posted, but that's probably just because my internet has been unreliable recently. Thanks for the help! (oh and you other guys are right, after your suggestion I found a possibility where I might be able to use signal strength to avoid using pistons) Thanks again to everyone!
P.S. does anyone want me to post a screenshot of it if I figure out how to do it without pistons? If not this will probably be the last post on the thread (supposing it is in fact just my internet and I can see those pictures later)
P.P.S. (it was just my internet I can see the pictures now)
Nah, it's fine. Since you let me know anyway it makes it even easier to tell. But an edit shows up in my notifications too, so whichever you prefer is fine by me. I suppose since you did in fact edit that design, an edit seems to make sense. Also if you come up with any other ideas, feel free to share! Not that I'm pressuring you to keep working for my sake of course, but if you simply build any new designs out of boredom. Welcome to the forums by the way, I saw your other command block post. Impressive, I'm just learning how to use the things myself

Hahaha, that hopper crazy solution really made me smile I'm pretty confident I can go off of just the screenshots, but if I need more to see everything I guess I'll ask. I think I have an idea, so I'm going to try to build a new design too (and finally stop being lazy and having you do everything)
also yeah, even if my idea works i can't ever find a way to do it without putting redstone underneath the bottom button
Ok, so this is the best solution I could find. It still has redstone underneath the bottom button which isn't optimum of course, but I can live with just fine. All of the outputs are regular length, the only thing that could mess anything up even slightly is if you pressed (going off the keypad on a standard computer, not the phone ones) the #2 and then the #0 in quick succession, the #2 would turn back on as a result of it being an inverted version of the #0 line. But I don't really care about that, since the machine I'm using it for doesn't allow you to press buttons that fast anyway. Sorry if I overcomplicated that explanation, I actually had to change it halfway through writing it cuz I thought it would do something else, then had a realization now for the screenshots...
Btw for your convenience I used black wool for blocks just there to stop the lines from crossing over
(and don't mind the thing on the side for the first two pictures where I forgot to go f1)
Thanks again for your time and continued helpfulness! Sorry it took so long to post this my computer was sick
I see your point, but I'm sorry I have no intention of using one as such. If I were to make it flat you're right, there is an easier solution. Actually though, if I ever make a full keypad I can see myself using one. So actually disregard everything I've said I won't be using it for what I'm currently working on, but in the future I certainly will be. Go ahead, by all means (and sorry about half of this post being useless)
Thanks for your help!

Ah I see, signal strengths! When I was first replying to your post asking if you should do it flat, I was imagining a flat on the ceiling version cuz I'm just that stupid (and that would obviously be super easy, just torchs going up until the lines are all on different levels). And then I realized it was actually something super complicated that I had no idea how to do I really like how you did this, it looks really nice and well designed! Thanks for the help, now I'm tempted to start making a computer just so I can use this redstone
Edit:
Oh and btw if anyone was wondering what I'm using this for, I'm renovating and remodeling a (reset-able) combination lock. I plan on reducing space, and increasing response time. I also decided to add in the extra digit however, since when I added in a 7-segment display that lights up whenever you press a number, I realized there was an unused line and suddenly remembered there are 10 digits (also the key part is RESET-ABLE. Without that little part it would be like simple easy redstone. Resetting things is hard though ) I actually think I'm gonna make another thread to showcase it, so check that out if you're still interested (supposing I overcome my laziness enough to find my screenshots folder)

As Empirer_BAD said, analog mapping is PROBABLY your best bet.

Ooh, inventive way to fix the problem. And yeah, that joy when you finally get them to actually be helpful

I have a design if anyone is still interested in this thread. It doesn't use any pistons.
