I've been practicing making and adjusting loot tables, but I've found it tedious trying to kill mobs over and over again or noclipping through the world trying to find chests to generate my new loot tables. However, the {LootTable:loot_file} NBT or whatever does not seem to be working.
I've been using this guide and it has been super useful so far! Near the end, it lists a command,
"/setblock ~ ~1 ~ minecraft:chest 0 false {LootTable:"minecraft:chests/simple_dungeon"}"
Which is supposed to summon a chest with the loot from "simple_dungeon" in it! However, every time I use this command in-game it results in an empty chest. When I go to the structure that generates this chest naturally, the loot contents spawn fine so its not an error in my loot table, presumably.
Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening? I'm at a total loss.
If it helps, I followed instructions, sans extracting the loot tables from the zip. I cannot replicate the results in this video.
Version Details:
Minecraft 1.12.2
Minecraft Forge 14.23.5.2772
LLibrary 1.7.18 for 1.12.2
Ice and Fire 1.7.0 for 1.12.2
I have created a "loot_tables" folder within my worlds "data" folder which contains my tables.
