So far... but I want to give the items directly... sure a chest is nice, but then you have to place the chest, open it, and then get the items... which is.. you know... not optimized to say the least...

You could use the /function command. I don't have any personal experience with it but it effectively can combine any number of commands into one in-game command. Here are links to what it does/how to use.

I need it to be 1 command, because it's the "tool pack" of an adventure map that I'm doing, and if people play it on multiplayer, it might end up giving wrong items to the wrong person, that's why, so that you know that the right person get everything the instant they join and land on the pressure plate, so even if 2 people join the server at the same time, the first person's already at spawn with their pack before the next person loads, unless they join on exactly the same tick.
Chain command blocks have a slight delay, and you can test that by chaining a "setblock-remove-button", and eventually, the button can't be removed, because too much time has gone past.
