Hi there, thanks for reading. I am trying to tag emeralds with the tag "econDrop".
This command works but tags all items.
/tag @e[type=item] add econDrop
This tag shows "no entity was found", but the syntax shows to be correct in the command line.
/tag @e[type=item,nbt={Item:{id:"minecraft.emerald"}}] add econDrop
Any idea what I am missing? I'm rusty and this has me stumped.

Actually, when i copied and pasted your command, the colon on your post turned into a dot ingame.
In the game, replace that dot with the semicolon, but other than that the command works
No luck I tried it in a single player world too and got the same error.
I just tried removing the "type" argument and just checked NBT and still nothing.
Do you mean all emeralds ON THE GROUND? Or in a player's inventory?
WIth your command, I can see the issue. You had this:
you did minecraft.emerald, not minecraft:emerald. I switched it to the second one and it works fine.
EDIT: oops sorry just realised Crazy_Dave just said that :).
Please, everyone, if your post is solved, edit the name and mark it [SOLVED]. Period.
Oh, I honestly didn't realize that is what he was talking about. Thanks for pointing it out, I'll try it.
That did it, thanks guys.
