I am trying to put a custom shield inside a /give filled chest command. Ive been tinkering with the command but still cannot figure out how. I can add a regular shield, but it has no texture. Can anyone tell me how to put a custom shield inside a /give chest command?
you can generate a banner pattern. The BlockEntityTag part of the command you can extract to put onto a shield.
As for putting it in a chest, you can go to mcstacker.net, as it gives a good interface for that. You will probably want to use the setblock command and choose chest. Then, under slot 0 (or any slot), add your shield. You can copy the banner command into mcstacker, and it will apply the same thing to the shield.

Remember those versions that minecraft pranked us with? Specifically:
Those are still downloadable! Watch this video for 2.0:
To download the other ones you need to make a folder in the versions folder for minecraft and put the client and JSON file for the versions in there. They all need to be named the same aside from file extensions. Once you do that, you will be able to choose that version when making a new profile with the minecraft launcher.
