So I'm in the latest 1.8 version, and Every command I try either does not work at all due to incorrect UUID or still kills me!
Also I try to put a range in {r=40} but it kills all entities and player in the world.
You need to provide the command you're using. If you're using curly brackets instead of square, that's why. The exact commands to use were already provided to you.

So for killing all entities except players I've tried:
/kill @e[type=!Player]
/kill @e [type=!Player]
/kill @e {type=!Player}
/kill @e{type=!Player}
And for Range I tried /kill @e {r=40} But it still kills every entity in the world
I have also tried just making a bunch of command blocks, one for each entity i want to kill but it STILL KILLS ME
I know this is an old question but it still does not work for me and it's really annoying.
So I put in: /kill @e[type=!Player]
Which is what everybody says to use. BUT IT DOES NOT WORK! It says the entity UUID is invalid.
I've tried it with:
adding a space between '@e' and '[' making the command: /kill @e [type=!Player] but it kills me as well!
Using {} instead of [] and adding the space but it still kills me.
Using {} instead of [] without the space but it says the entity UUID is invalid
Please HELP!
It should work... if it didn't work... try this: /kill @e[rm=1]
That should do it.
Nope, that still killed me.
What version are you using? (I'm always in the... the latest snapshot).
What version are you using? Because the /kill @e[type=!Player] works only on 1.8 or higher, i think.
I don't understand. It works to me.
/kill @e[type=!Player]
I was getting the same issue of you... /kill @e[type=Creeper] killed me... i dont know what happened, but someday, it started to work out fine...
You know that you are lazy when you do a program to write a program
I'm in the latest 1.8 version.
/kill @e[type=!Player]
Always works for me.

And who did say that didn't work for me?
No one. Just saying it has always worked for me.

This is really frustrating
OK! I was typing out the reply to you an it suddenly worked!!!!
I put /kill @e[type=!Player]
Now I just need to figure out how to add wolves in there...
Would I do /kill @e[type=!Player,!Wolf]
or would I put /kill @e[type=!Player,Wolf]
Okay so I found out how to solve this, I'm using 1.20.1 but you don't just type
/kill @e[type=!Player] into the chat, you gotta type /kill @e[type=!minecraft.player]
I also found out this post is 7-8 years old at the time I am typing this, so just so you know its that command!
