So why exactly does this not work? I've browsed through quite a bit of forums, and have seen a lot of people saying this works... yet, I cannot name an Armor Stand and have a command block detect a named one. All a command block seems to do is find regular, un-named Armor Stands, and when you name one, the command block does nothing.... doesn't report an error, doesn't execute command, it returns ZERO information on the previous output line...
In other words, while I have read over and over again that this should work.... IT DOES NOT! Would someone like to explain why this is so broken?
Ok, how exactly are you suppose to give the Armor Stand a name? It seems that giving yourself one with a display name doesn't work either. What is the exact tag you need to add for the naming?
That works, it does, and thank you... but how would you just give yourself the custom named item? Display name does not seem to be the same as custom name. It seems like an extra step.
Can you not give yourself a named item which will work with the give command?
Well, we got it working... been struggling with it for awhile. Didn't know Anvil names were not the same. You've been a big help, AbsentFuture Wish Mojang wouldn't have so many different methods for the same thing... Anvil name, Display name, Custom name... jeez, just use ONE NAME lol
/execute @e[type=ArmorStand,name=test] ~ ~ ~ tp @p ~ ~1 ~

Seriously, it only works by adding the tag yourself? You can't just name it in an Anvil? . . . *sigh*
Thanks
Well, that probably solves that. You guys are awesome! ^-^

You can use the EntityTag tag, which only works for armor stands (in 1.8) :
/give @p minecraft:armor_stand 1 0 {EntityTag:{CustomName:""}}
Here are some examples : http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-discussion/redstone-discussion-and/command-blocks/2424127-entitytag-available-for-armor-stand-items

Anyways, thanks for all the help!
