Damn... What is happenning instead? The boat dont loose its collision mask?
Can someone confirm it doesn't work?
To answer your question from earlier:
When you look at a block, a hitbox appears on it. To reduce lag the game puts out, every single block that is the same as the one you're looking at takes on the same hitbox of the same block you're looking at. So basically, they don't have to store their hitbox data individually.
When you look at a glass pane, for instance, that takes up only half the block space, all other glass panes will take on the same hitbox, regardless if they take up the full block.
If ANY entity touches the specific block, the hitbox will change too. This means any mobs, dropped items, boats, minecarts, etc. Meaning if you have two receivers for the same block, they will interfere with one another. The boat falls, I believe, because the player is "more important". So when the player touches a block, the boat has no choice but to fall because the block's hitbox that was holding up the boat no longer supports it.
From testing on a Bukkit server, the upside-down stairs don't seem to work, or have extreme trouble working. However, upside-down half-slabs seem to work just fine.

Thanks.. I'll try that.
EDIT It doesn't work for me
Yeah, the f0 thing have to do with the way my piston clock is made, not actually the collision thing. For multiplayer... well, thats too bad. I,m not a multiplayer player myself, but maybe someon will find something...
@drtelme: try to change the spot you build it.
Also, what version are you using?
The IAR still works in the snapshots (even in LAN mode, but still no multiplayer, wich is odd), but you need to slow down the clock, as a fast piston clock like the on I'm using will make the block disappear
I'm waiting for the 1.3 release to re-make tutorials, since they may "fix" this.

I tried all four directions and with different stairs.
