Basically i have a rail system. From point A to point B. Simple enough. Worked fine.
Now i wanted to add a point C in between A & B. Id like to be able to ( at all of the points ) to hit a button and it would take me to that designated point.
For example if I am at B and wanted to go to C, id press 1 button, if I wanted to go from B to A, id press a different button.
Anyone able to help at all? I been bashing my head the past few hours trying to get this right lol.
Quick graphic of what i have. Envy my paint skills.
As of right now I have a lever at point A...redstone ran to the intersection at C with a redstone torch under the intersection. Which works, it switches the track between C and B. Now I can't figure how to do the same set up at C so it switches the track back to A or to go to B.
.
This is what i have so far. I just made it above ground and scaled smaller to give you an idea.
Bottom right is point A
Left is point B
Top is point C.
The levers switch the tracks for me before i get in my cart. Point A switches between C and B. I get in, push the button to power the rail and i am off. Same set up at Point B too.
Problem I am now having is Point C ( top right ). When i flip that lever to switch the track between A and C...well it does nothing. I have the redstone and lever set up exactly as point A and C. They all connect to the middle block ( black block there ) with a redstone torch on top of it, which is directly under the rail being switched.
Ok never mind. I placed a block, then removed it and replaced the redstone and now it works on all 3 points...odd.
hers mine using the fore mentioned t-flip, it's just a matter of running the redstone. I ran the redstone first, then marked the buttons accordingly afterwards.
EDIT: I don't think that last inverter is necessary (the green wool with the redstone torch)
Rough Tutorial:
Here is a rough idea, with pictures, of what you need.
First you need to set up an T flip flop logic gate. Need I say that the minecraft wiki has several designs [Link: http://www.minecraft...ps_and_Toggles] they look complicated, but really aren't.
The idea behind this is we are going to connect the flip flop to the points switch. Whenever you press the 'change points button' it will change (and hold) the points section of rail into that state. You can connect this up to light blocks if you want to make it very clear which two rail paths. Since we are using a flip flop onto the points, you can have as many or as few 'change points' buttons as you want. This was somthing you wanted.
So go ahead and build a T flip flop near (but not directly underneath) your points. Connect up one of the (on) outputs to the underside of the points.
Next build three K-stations. One on each of the direction rails. You can space them as close or as far from the points as you wish (although I suggest you place them close so as not to incur the trouble of chunk loading, and so if somebody else changes the points while you are traveling you don't get a nasty supprise). There is a (bad) example of one in the screenshots, if you would like a proper tutorial for a nice one ask and ye shall receive.
Next to the stations place a button that is an 'input' links to the input of the T flip flop.
Now, every time you stop at the K-station you can change the points to go in the direction you would like to go.
A K-station is one where If entering from one direction you will be 'stopped' or 'paused' in your current direction of travel, then upon pressing a button, you will continue on in your direction of travel. If traveling from the other direction you pass right through the station.
Well, you can use an XOR instead of a t-flip-flop if you want.

I am just going to trash the underground train idea and put it above ground. Just realized it takes longer to climb down to the train and back up then if i just walked out the front door to the two places lol.
Alternatively, instead of having the destination switch at points A, B and C, you could have it at the intersection, example of one such design in the video below.
Basically i have a rail system. From point A to point B. Simple enough. Worked fine.
Now i wanted to add a point C in between A & B. Id like to be able to ( at all of the points ) to hit a button and it would take me to that designated point.

Here's my idea if you want one that can support more places and on one rail let me know
