Redstone Knowledge: self-rated, 8.5 I probably know everything about the lower level details of redstone, but I am not totally sure what to do with an ALU and a bunch of RAM.
E.G. All basic logic gates and rudimentary circuitry and how to combine and build it.
Comparators, did you know that you can use them to turn one 13-strength pulse into 13 1-strength pulses with a simple looping device? I did. I also knew that they could be used to add two pulse's strengths in an even simpler way. They can also be used as a no-burn-out analog inversion gate.
RP2, except for the computers, probably not relevant, but I understand it.
Mobs: Wolf chases sheep, Villagers run from zombies and pigzombies, zombies (but not pigzombies) chase villagers, Villagers go inside in dark, villagers breed (too complicated to elaborate) on their own with some help and produce iron golems. Zombies spawn more within (I believe) 32 meters upon being injured, children follow their parents until adulthood. Hostiles move when within 40 meters and can despawn outside 32, they tend to notice you at 16. Passives move within 20 meters. Villager children follow each other and run around (probably not that useful). Creepers drop records when shot by skeletons, and go lightning/charged/more explosive when struck by it. Pigs turn into Zombie pigs upon being struck by lightning, poison/harm heals undead, wither hunts non-undead, there are quite a few more I could list, including spawners, natural spawns, etc but I won't.

Would be really useful to have a rating under which to compare the 1-10s for redstone competency/skill/knowledge.

0: What am the red stones.
1: It's like that stuff that makes wires n' stuff.
2: That's the stuff that you can make doors and fuses with.
3: You can make it do the opposite of what you tell it with a torch.
4: Yup, I use it to make double doors ... and reddish floors!
5: You can also make clocks and logic gates!
6: And memory, and you can combine it like this!
7: You don't have to use levers and buttons directly, what about BUDs and pistons and glowstone and half slabs and mobs?
8: And the new comparators, and dual-rail computation, and Arrow detection, and normal and custom spawners, The Trazlander replacement effect, and mob interactions in order to make more efficient and useful machines.
9: And you can make this: *builds high-speed partially dual-rail computer*
10: And you can make this: *builds map-run terraria-like game within minecraft which runs without causing soul-crushing lag and has NPCs and explosions.*
Obviously, this is kind of a power-law or log scale or something, since 1-6 are really common, 7-8 are often seen as being amazing, but are still somewhat common, 9 is quite rare, and 10 is extremely, ludicrously rare. but you get the idea.
Because some people probably consider "10" to mean "can use logic gates and flip-flops effectively"
While others consider that to be somewhere around "3"
so, if a "6" is "able to use logic gates, sorta" then a lot of people will be 6+.
But if a "6" is "minor deity of redstone, nigh-omniscient" Very few people will be 6+.
Currently, my 6.5 might be somebody else's 10, or my 8 might be someone else's 5.
i.e. some people might think you are asking for only redstone demigods, others might think you are asking for anyone who can figure out how to attach an RS-NOR latch to an AND gate.

Adding you on Skype as we speak. Good points, I can tell you will be useful and productive on the server just from the way you think. Welcome.

Little bit about my style:
I'm all about efficiency and the quest for full automation, I'm not lazy in game, If something needs to be done a certain way I won't cut corners to end up with a less efficient result. I know almost everything there is to know about mob spawning mechanics as well as general mob behaviour. I wouldn't classify myself as an explorer in Minecraft I enjoy more building up an area until i have everything i need at the flick of a switch.

Reason I would like to join?: I want to join because I would like to meet OTHER redstoners out there! It would be a great adventure for us all! Yes, I am 12 but don't worry, I am not the type that fools around, and I have a very deep voice btw. You'll think I'm 14.
Against my better judgement, we have decided to use Skype since steam doesn't offer free group chat. If you are still interested reply with your skype name (or create one).
Actually it does. Just make a group, invite friends to the group and then invite group members to chat and turn on the voice. I had 8 people in a Steam chat room at once with no problems.

Redstone: 8.5 (Can understand all, have problems with large complex redstone due to colorblindness+ADD)
I like efficient, compacted and modular designs. I go for high automation with little effort (aka Lazy) but I love making insanely large builds. Unique concepts are also something I love.
