I can't really show you in a picture, but the best redstone appliance I ever made is a toggleable hole in my house. You pretty much just pull a lever and it turns a flat floor into a 4x4 hole to jump into. Redstone completely hidden
Wow. My friend made something kind of like this, but yours sounds a bit cooler. Nice!
The three redstone contraptions I'm most proud of:
3) A furnace that can use all the energy in a lava bucket or coal block to smelt times, that I can walk away from without tending it, but still retains almost a full stack of output, so I can get the XP from it.
2) An automatic minecart system for my mines, including loading, unloading, and sorting stations.
1) An adjustable enchanting room so compact that can be built above ground, in a tower.

That... is really cool. Wow!I know, I know, I accidentally posted this on survival
Sorry folks!
I guess I'm a bit of a noob to these forums, despite my rank (Carpenter)
Then again Carpenters do seem kind of noobish
I guess it's because I haven't checked my forum account in, like, a month.
My best red stone contraption was when I was able to make a piston push a block.
Though I couldn't get the block back in it's original spot.
I should learn how to do red stone tho.

We are the universe. We are everything you think isn't you.
Update 1.5 completely changed survival redstoning for me. The hopper/comparator combination makes very compact and robust control mechanisms. I think I spent a week in my creative "redstone labs" world trying to figure out exactly what they were capable of.

Don't worry about it too much. IMO, redstone work has a place in survival games. It makes the difference between simply surviving and thriving. I may not make 8 bit redstone computers, but when you're playing a game without XP farms, having an automatic furnace that still retains XP for you is great, especially given how good the new coal block is for decorative purposes. And I've built adjustable enchantment rooms since enchanting was added to the game. It's just that before 1.5, the wiring required to control it was about four times the size of the room itself.
i have made a working triple piston with no guides, a working bath, an anti-flying machine, an x-ray, a guess the pic minigame (in one of the forums), a mob trap, and a working creature that when you feed it heaps of food, poops cocoa beans
Nonetheless, my Youtube channel is mainly devoted to redstone. My proudest build is the world's smallest flush quad extender (with block):
Wow! This is incredible! And, sorry I'm sorta new to the forums I guess
Neat!

Yeah, that's pretty much what I make too
