Create a quad-core computer with a graphic interface that is able to run a simple Minecraft-like game. Needs to be on the scale as the computer you are using right now...
Show me your designs, share them, and don't forget a download link!
I think i can take up your challenge... I have had quite a but of experience with computers and circuitry. I don't want to truly accept it on the off chance things will go horribly wrong though.
but that last line "Needs to be on the scale as the computer you are using right now..." That's impossible in minecraft my dual core processor runs at 4.8 Gigahertz the fastest minecraft computer i know of is only 3.3 hertz at best.

Personally this challenge is ridiculous, very impractical. Does anyone recognize this guy hanging around the redstone forums before or did he just come on here to make some challenge without realizing how ridiculous it is?
The computer MUST be like a classic tower pc. And this challenge isn't meant to be easy...
I checked the TheBurningFirefly's link to the youtube with the mineception video, its just a cheap ripoff of real mineception.
And what do you get for spending countless hours building this computer?

Your dual-core runs faster than an intel i7? That's impossible unless you crank up your setting so much your computer overheats... ...and then explodes...
You realize you still have no idea what you're talking about? How are you going to make air cooling and power supply in a platform that has infinite power and no heat? Why bother having a case and screws when there is no gravity and things can float in mid air? If you're looking for rube goldbergs, there's pleanty of them around.
In fact, sethbling made a computer themed one right here -
I understand Minecraft isn't reality and you don't needs cooling fans. Make it like the instructions say and leave out uneccesary parts that you don't need in the virtual land of Minecraft.

I have only gotten 4.3 GH once when i was doing all my overclocking a long time ago.
(running dual core AMD a lightweight linux OS blah) and it over heated in like 15 minutes of running nothing but the OS

You do know the only difference between a laptop and a desktop is how the squish everything together right?
"Classic tower PC" means desktop. I do not require the redstone to be compact. Yes, you'll need a better than average computer to run this, since it has to be a quad core. But the individual cores don't have to be all that powerful.

Ok I guess you don't understand computers... In a computer ALL cores are the exactly same, Exactly down to the placement of wires.
If you make one core bad All will be bad. If you make it different you would need another computer just to orchestrate the program to function on it.
Like the guy above me; Please read up some more on computing science before posting again.I have built multi-core computers in minecraft before and it is one of the most difficult things to get the program to function right.. Especially when it comes to the aspect of branching and conditions.

What I meant before is that the quad can just be 1 core split into four parts.

63854, the Minecraft Computer is an extremely delicate piece of engineering, as is a real CPU. You do not seem to understand either.
To create a Minecraft CPU even 1 millionth of the power of you current one would require filling thousands and thousands of chunks. However, since there is no way to transmit redstone currents that distance in any reasonable amount of time, such a processor would never work. In other words, the bigger it is, the slower it gets. Past a certain point, a Minecraft CPU can't go faster. Period. Therefore, the CPU is impossible. In addition, there are a very small amount of wool colors, pistons take hundreds of times longer than any modern monitor to refresh, in addition to the previous issue of transporting redstone signals long distances, and the rendering limits of Minecraft itself. Therefore, the request is impossible

Making life easier for all of us, by making it harder for myself. Yeah, right.

The average laptop runs at 2.2 Gigahertz

Like you wouldn't want to be the person known for creating the perfect Mineception quad core?

it has had problems ever since then..

That's not what a quad core is...
Playing Minecraft since Alpha 1.1.2_0
